The year 2020 was truly an unprecedented one which not only disrupted our personal and professional lives but also brought out lots of learnings for each one of us.

Mumbai was the first city in India to face the brunt of this pandemic. The initial period was all about uncertainty & scarcity. Starting from scarcity of information about the virus, scarcity of PPE, testing kits, beds etc.

Scenes that we had seen only in movies played out right in front of our eyes. Deserted roads, no local trains, educational institutions shut, people closeted in their homes and FEAR….

Through all this mayhem, the medical fraternity truly stood up fearlessly in the service of the community despite being at the highest risk for themselves and their family members.

Living up to our tagline of “Every Life Matters” at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH), we continued providing all services to our patients throughout the pandemic. These included not only taking care of critical COVID patients but also performing all complex surgeries including Heart & Liver Transplants

The strength of our full- time consultant model truly stood out as we continued to serve the community amid all the turbulence.

As the number of COVID cases drop and life has started returning to normalcy, it’s time to reflect on the learnings from this hopefully once in a lifetime event. These include the speed with which the scarcity of materials, PPE, beds etc. was set right through public private partnership, the leadership shown by the medical community, community participation, behavioural discipline, the shift to digitised healthcare and education etc.

Continuing this digital journey, we now relaunch our newsletter Life Matters in its new digital format through which we aim to communicate to you, the latest developments at KDAH across specialties.

Do share your feedback with us to help us keep this Newsletter customised to your areas of interest.
