Privacy Policy for Life in the UK Test Prep

This Privacy Policy describes how the "Life in the UK Test Prep" mobile application ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use it. We built this App to help you study for the Life in the UK citizenship test, and most of its features work fully offline with your privacy in mind.

1. Summary
The App's core study features (reading, quizzes, flashcards, progress tracking) work entirely offline and do not require an account or sign-in.
The App displays ads (banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads) provided by Google AdMob, which requires an internet connection and involves Google collecting limited data as described in Section 5.
We do not operate our own servers, and we do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information to ourselves.
All of your study progress, quiz scores, bookmarks, and achievements are stored **only on your device**.
The App contains the Google AdMob advertising SDK. It does not contain any separate analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, and the App does not transmit to us, any of the following:
Your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact details
Your location
Photos, camera, or microphone data
Contacts, calendar, or files on your device
Any usage analytics or behavioral tracking data collected by us directly
The App does not include any separate analytics platform or crash-reporting tool. It does include the Google AdMob advertising SDK, which collects an advertising identifier and related data to serve ads — see Section 5 for details on what that involves.
3. Information Stored on Your Device
To provide the App's features, the following information is created and stored **locally on your device only**, in a private on-device database. It is never uploaded, synced to a server, or shared with us or any third party:
Quiz and mock exam attempts, scores, and history
Progress tracking and category mastery statistics
Bookmarked/saved questions and flashcards
Incorrectly answered questions (used for the mistake-review feature)
Achievements, streaks, and experience points (XP)
Your app preferences (e.g., dark mode, daily reminder time)
This data stays on your device and is deleted automatically if you uninstall the App or manually clear its data/storage from your device settings.
Android Auto Backup
If your device has Android's Auto Backup feature enabled, the data listed above may be included in your device's backup to **your own personal Google Account** (via Google Drive), as provided by the Android operating system. This backup is managed entirely by Google under Google's own privacy policy and is not accessible to us. You can disable this at any time in your device's system settings.
4. Permissions We Request
The App does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage, or any other sensitive device permission.
5. Links to Third-Party Services
The App contains buttons (such as "Rate Us," "Share App," and "More Apps by Developer") that open the Google Play Store app or your device's web browser using standard Android links. When you tap these, you leave the App and interact directly with Google Play or your browser, which have their own privacy policies:

In-App Review
The App uses Google's official **Play In-App Review API** to let you rate the App without leaving it. This feature is provided and operated entirely by Google Play services, is subject to Google's Privacy Policy linked above, and we do not receive or see any data from this interaction.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App displays banner, interstitial, and rewarded video ads provided by Google AdMob. To select and serve these ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process data such as your device's advertising identifier, general device information, and coarse usage data, in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy linked above. We do not receive or store this data ourselves — it is collected and processed directly by Google.
If you are located in the UK or European Economic Area, the App will show you a consent form on first launch (via Google's User Messaging Platform) that lets you review and manage your ad personalization choices before any ads are requested. 6. Data Safety
In line with Google Play's Data Safety requirements, here is a summary of what the App collects and shares:
We do not collect or share any personal information ourselves (no servers exist to send it to).
All study data (scores, progress, bookmarks, etc.) remains stored locally on your device, as described in Section 3.
The App's Google AdMob SDK collects an advertising identifier and related device/usage data to serve ads, and this data is shared with Google, as described in Section 5.
The App does not include any separate analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
7. Data Security
Because all of your study data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us, there is no server-side database of your information for us to protect or that could be breached on our end. We still recommend keeping your device secured (e.g., with a screen lock) as general good practice.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is intended to help adults and young adults prepare for the UK "Life in the UK" citizenship test and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Ads served through the App are not configured to be targeted at children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted at this same page with an updated "Effective Date" above. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
