Rizal was a peaceful reformist who condemned systemic abuse and inequality. Presently issues such as poverty, inequality, and discrimination persist, echoing the injustices Rizal fought against. He advocated for the equal treatment of Filipinos especially the poor and marginalized under the law. He also spoke against oppression by religious and political authorities and believed real justice must include dignity, freedom, and rights for all people. It can be said that his ideals were mainly affected by how he witness the injustice cause by the Spaniards to the three Filipino friars (Padre Gomez, Padre Burgos, and Padre Zamora). Witnessing the execution and how his Brother Paciano felt about it, Rizal's eyes was opened to the cruelty and injustices that the Spaniards do at such a young age and thus, eventually leading him to go through the same cycle as the three friars, but the difference is that Rizal's ideals remained alive even at his death and also, it was the catalyst for the Filipinos' Nationalistic heart that will soon lead the Philippines to gain Freedom and Independence.Â
