Lidar Human Activity Recognition

LIDAR vs. Camera

This figure showcases the difference in viewpoint between a LIDAR and standard video camera.

LIDAR technology operates fundamentally differently from conventional video, capturing the environment in a unique manner. It functions by emitting a laser beam, reflected off a rotating mirror, to measure both the intensity and the time lapse from emission to reflection receipt. This precise timing facilitates the calculation of exact distances. A LIDAR system assembles numerous such distance measurements into a 3D map, known as a point cloud, providing a detailed spatial representation distinct from traditional video imagery. This point cloud offers a comprehensive understanding of the environment, showcasing LIDAR's distinct advantage in capturing spatial data.

Concept

Enhancing Exercise Monitoring with LiDAR Technology

This project capitalizes on 3D LIDAR technology for a cutting-edge Human Activity Recognition (HAR) system, aimed at transforming physical fitness through precise exercise pose detection.

By integrating LIDAR, our initiative seeks to refine motion analysis, offering real-time, precise feedback on exercise form. This technology not only elevates workout efficiency and safety, but also brings advantages of high accuracy in diverse lighting conditions and ensures user privacy.

Our goal is to harness LIDAR's unmatched spatial accuracy to revolutionize health and wellness, optimizing exercise routines for the active lifestyles of today.
