WHY & HOW
Inspiration for Collaborative Outcomes: The LID Working Group members work together to plan and build green infrastructure in desert cities and our surroundings in order to create multiple shared goals including verdant, cool living spaces, conserve and enhance water resources, preserve and restore habitat, enhance community livelihood, equity, and safety, clean stormwater, and reduce flood risks.
Objectives for Working Group: Continual strategic exchange of knowledge to enhance regional collaboration of diverse sectors and disciplines for mutual co-benefits through multi-discipline projects. Working together for widespread adoption and implementation of green stormwater infrastructure practices that are resilient and well-maintained.
Working Group Strategies: Through workshops and meetings, we identify the region’s assets, and gaps, and forge pathways toward goals. Each working group participant may present information on a project they need feedback or collaboration on or request a presentation they want to learn from. It helps us to maintain an ongoing network of informed advisors, reduce redundancy, build off each other’s work, stay relevant and current, and continue learning.
Guidance for Gatherings*
Aim to be present and build connections to allow us all to be open.
Speak honestly from your own experience and respect all kinds of strengths and knowledge.
Be conscious of intent versus impact while receiving words from others as information without taking them personally.
Appreciate humility and be aware of power dynamics.
Honor others by helping to be aware of the time and agenda.
Generously participate and listen with curiosity.
We put challenges in front of us and not between us.
Challenge ideas, not people, with constructive and appreciative discussions.
Contribute to sustaining the impact of our efforts by sharing updates and following up on actions.
Welcome concerns and questions as part of identifying strategic solutions, opportunities, and growth.
To collaborate among diverse industries, please explain context, jargon, and acronyms.
Be mindful and heart-centered; we are here to build a community of practice.
