Titans’ Living Wax Museum:
Biographical Resources
A Research Guide for 6 - 8 Grade Titan Scholars
at New Century International Middle School
A New Century Middle School tradition began for our Titan Scholars in May of 2023! The social studies department hosted its first schoolwide living wax museum, challenging each student to research an individual from one of the time periods studied throughout the 2022-23 school year and then bring that figure to life. The 2023 NCIMS Titan Living Wax Museum was a huge success, and we are doing it again this year. During social study class library visits, we have learned that "googling" is not the only way to research and learn about our chosen historical figure.
This research guide aims to assist our Titan Scholars as they use their blossoming research skill by providing a central location to begin their exploration. This research guide is here to help direct our Titan Scholars to discover, utilize, and explore the plethora of vetted and valid resources available in our media center and online through the North Carolina Department of Instruction through NCEdCloud.
The Titans’s Living Wax Museum: Biographical Resources Research Guide is for the sixth (6), seventh (7), and eighth (8) grade middle school students at New Century International Middle School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This research guide is intended to create a centralized location for our Titan Scholars to access the resources available through our media center and the resources provided by the North Carolina Department of Instruction. Parents, guardians, and teachers may also find this research guide helpful as they explore the historical figure the students chose.
Using the North Carolina Social Studies Standards the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction created, all Titan Scholars will select a notable/influential figure from history and research their lives. Students will review the time in which the person lived, their background and early life, and what made them an important figure of their historical time, including the contributions made to the society in which they lived.
