The rules and policies are designed to maintain a quiet, productive, and respectful environment for all users and to ensure the proper preservation and organization of library resources.
Valid ID Required: All users must present a valid college ID or Library Card upon entry and when requested by library staff.
Silence: Complete silence must be maintained in designated quiet study areas and reading rooms. Discussions and group work should be held in designated group study rooms or outside the library.
Mobile Phones: Mobile phones must be set to silent/vibrate mode within the library premises. Phone calls are strictly prohibited inside the library.
Personal Belongings: Bags, briefcases, and other personal belongings must be deposited at the designated area near the entrance. The library is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal items.
No Food or Drink: Eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly prohibited inside the library. Water bottles with secure lids may be allowed in certain areas.
Respect for Staff: Treat library staff and fellow users with courtesy and respect. Any form of misbehavior or indiscipline will result in disciplinary action.
Borrowing Requirements: You must present your Library Card at the circulation desk to borrow or renew materials.
Borrowing Limits and Periods: Limits on the number of items and the duration of the loan will be posted at the circulation desk and may vary by user category (e.g., students, faculty, staff).
Non-Circulating Materials: Reference books, periodicals, journals, and newspapers may only be used within the library premises and cannot be checked out.
Renewal: Books may be renewed if they are not overdue and have not been reserved by another user.
Reporting Damage: Users must check the condition of the material before borrowing and report any existing damage to the circulation staff. You will be held responsible for any damage found upon return.
Proper Handling: Do not write, underline, mark, or tear pages in library materials. Use books with care. After reading, leave the books on the tables or in designated carts; please do not attempt to re-shelve them.
Overdue Fines: Materials returned after the due date will Rs 5.00/= a daily fine per item.
Loss or Damage: The borrower is responsible for the replacement cost of any lost or severely damaged library material, including a processing fee. If a lost book is later found, the replacement cost may be refunded, but accrued overdue fines will apply.
Disciplinary Action: Violation of any library rules, including theft or mutilation of materials, may result in the suspension of library privileges and further disciplinary action as per college policy.
