Study: The social backgrounds of UK higher education librarians.
Thank you for considering participating in this research study explore the social backgrounds of UK higher education librarians. This site contains the questionnaire used as part of this study as well as additional information about the research.
The questionnaire is deigned to collect information on the background of librarians working in UK higher education libraries. I've deliberately kept the definition of librarian fairly broad. Eligibility for participation includes:
Working in a UK university library and any of the following criteria:
Working in a role that usually requires a specific library qualification (e.g. MA/MSc Library Science)
OR
Job title that includes librarian, information specialist, manager, head of, director/deputy director
OR
Have substantive managerial or supervisory responsibility for any of these areas of service provision: reference, research services, instructional services, academic liaison, rare books/special collections, collection development, cataloguing, library systems or circulation services
OR
Currently have line management responsibility within the library.
This includes librarians working in all service areas of the library such as subject librarianship, research support, collections, systems and management. The questionnaire is anonymous unless you volunteer to provide an email for a follow up interview.
