Keep checking back to see what we have been up to at our meetings!
October 6, 2025
Our October meeting was held Monday, September 8 at Sr. Jalapeno's at 6pm. We opened by introducing new members and handing out some kids' meal cards from Texas Roadhouse. We also welcomed our P-2 Principal, Mr. Stowell for joining us at the meeting!
Next order was a recap of our first Tailgate night! Ended up being more kid oriented than full family - so that will be focus for the 10/10 one. $312 was our income from all parking spots, raffles, & spirit wear. We did pay the DJ $250 for the evening. Decided for the next one to not have the DJ and just play music through the speakers. Will also keep the baskets in one spot versus moving them down by the field after the tailgate. Will also give away water, but sell pop and chips.
Brought up broad plans for Carnival - and will speak more after we meet with administration on what we are able and allowed to do.
While we tried, our Talent Show didn't end up going on. We only had 6 acts try out, so that wasn't enough to hold the show. All acts that tried out were then given the opportunity to try out for the winter High School production of Puffs.
Magazine sale packets went home this week and is underway. The winning classroom with the most sales will get their choice of pizza, donut, or ice cream party. Top sellers will also receive gift cards that are provided by the fundraising company. This fundraiser makes us the most money for the year. Once over we will pick a day to deliver.
Caring closet has been given over to the United Way. We will continue to fill the gaps on what they are running low on. We can purchase NEW ITEMS ONLY as needed to make sure the closet is full.
Walmart FULLY DONATED our end of the year Volunteer Raffle item - a Pittboss Smoker valued near $400. Originally they were just going to reduce rate to $200 for us, but decided to fully donate!
Yearbook process has already started. Prices seem to have gone up a little. If we sell under 150 the price to Memory Lane will be $14. We will go from charging $13 to $15 each for our kids. The photographer will be sending us the google document for us to start gathering pictures throughout the year. Mr. Stowell will check to see if Memory Lane can add pictures of the janitorial staff as well as teachers and staff. We will sell Feb 2- April 3 - All orders due to Memory Lane on April 10. Forms will come to us last week of January. Will do the kids cover and back cover contest again. Instead of the "about me" page, we maybe will add a PTA sponsor page to honor those that have helped us throughout the year. Or maybe sell "one liners" for parent shoutouts.
This year, instead of a classroom party, we will be holding a fun CLUE game over the announcements. Going to this model will save us $125 in our budget for the year. The week of Halloween we will voice scripts over the announcements and the classrooms will compete against each other to solve the mystery. Will need parents and teachers willing to voice the announcements. The cost of the game was only $70.
Octber 9 is spirit night at Handel's from 5-9. All must bring the flyer in hand, no digital. It is all over to be printed. Handel's will not take a digital copy and we cannot hand out copies on site. Handel's is giving us 10%
BMX assembly is also October 9 - they need a 40x100 paved area and need to be within 100 feet of an outlet. Will likely be in the parking lot behind the school where we hold the tailgate. We don't need volunteers but parents are able to come. Shows are at 1 and 2 depending on the age.
We brought up some new fundraising ideas. Rachel Curl brought up a few for us, including a "spirit rock" that's donated and people can "rent" it to paint it for an event. Each rental gets a certain amount of time and rules. The other was a raffle for the front parking spot in the pickup line. $5 per entry for a raffe ticket, and one is pulled for the front spot. Another one would be a discount card of local businesses. Cards would be good for a year. We will look into this and see what is the easiest and most profitable company to go through. Painting Ls or Paws painted on the driveway is another good community building fundraiser.
Scholastic came to us to see if we wanted to add a second book fair to our holiday shop. This would give us an extra 10% on our spring book fair. It would be during the holiday shop and would include a whole separate cash register that would need to be manned by a separate board member. There would need to be at least 2 board members available at all times during that week. Holiday shop is the first week of December. Vote was taken and we will not be adding a second book fair at this time, as we cannot guarantee the Board Member manpower needed to run both.
Our kid's craft show will have more information to come, but we are trying to coordinate to have it December 13 aligned with the Band's vendor craft show. Ours will be the kid's making and selling their own items.
Our big event of October is our Trunk or Treat and Dance following. This year we will hold the event from 4:30-6:30 for Trunk or Treat (with a set up time of 4:00 for trunks) and 6:30-8:00 for the dance. Flyers will go home for the kids that will be their entrance "ticket" into the dance, so that we can confirm ONLY LIBERTY students and their families will enter the dance. The event will be free for all. We are sending out marketing and flyer to our businesses and teachers to participate in the Trunk or Treat. There will be food trucks available at 4:00 and will stay through the dance until 8:00 - all will donate a portion of sales to the PTA. For the dance, we will give water, while punch and chips will be available for purchase. We will offer an "upgrade" cup of punch that lights up. We will provide all decorations and Memory Lane will be available for optional family photos at $10 each. There will also be awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best costume
PTA memberships are $5 and are due to us by October 31 to get it registered with the state of Ohio. Please see any member of the board or click here to register JOIN US We can accept cash, check, or Venmo for dues.
September 8, 2025
Our first meeting of the school year was held Monday, September 8 at Sr. Jalapeno's at 6pm. We opened by introducing the board and their positions then transitioned into welcoming and having the returning and new members introduce themselves.
PTA memberships are $5 and are due to us by October 31 to get it registered with the state of Ohio. Please see any member of the board or click here to register JOIN US We can accept cash, check, or Venmo for dues.
We ran through the plan of events for the upcoming year which include: Talent Show, StuntMasters BMX assembly, Trunk or Treat/Halloween Dance, Halloween Clue classroom event, a children's craft show, snowball fight with the Grinch and Buddy the Elf, Valentine's Day Dance, Teacher Appreciation & a Spring Carnival! Fundraisers for the year will include: Magazine Sale, Holiday Shop, Stromboli Sale, Book Fair, Flower sale.
We then went over various ways we help the school. We have our Spirit Shop live and running, both in person and online - Shirts in 6 designs can be purchased and are $15 for youth sizes (S-XL) and $20 for adult sizes (S-3X). PTA shirts for members are also available, but are not mandatory, those are $15. Last year we brought back the yearbook, which was a hit. We profited $1400 on that and were able to capture so many awesome pictures. We will do this again this year and again will hold a student contest (during Holiday Shop) for the front and back covers. Yearbooks will be $13 each. Every year we give money to 2 graduating seniors in the form of $500 scholarships. We give $1000 to the organization who runs the Senior Breakfast, and we allot $500 to each school for Principal needs ($500 to high school, and $250 each to both P6 Principals)
Our treasurer was next up, and brought forth our current balance (as of 8/31) of $11,968.86. We recently upgraded our Sam's Club account to the Plus membership, so will now earn cash back on all event purchases. Money for dues and PTA shirts was collected and totaled $110 for the evening.
We are looking for some new positions to be filled for the year. We are adding some Committee Chairs for our major upcoming events! We are looking for Committee Chairs for : Spirit Nights, Teacher Appreciation, Craft Show & Yearbook. Cassie Pennachio accepted the position as yearbook chair, but all others will still need filled.
Various "bits and pieces" were discussed for the fall including: combining our Kid's Craft Show with the LHS Band Craft show in having them on the same day but in separate locations for each to promote each other, Magazine sale packets will go home 10/3 and the sale will be open 10/6-10-20, we will be working with the principals to institute a Teacher of the Month award, and we are work hard to get our Box Tops program to grow this year in hopes to give the money to facilities maintenance and improvement.
We've added a new incentive plan for our volunteers this year! Every time a parent volunteers for a PTA event they will get an entry into the end of the year drawing. The more they volunteer, the more entries they get. There will be one large drawing at the end of the year for a large prize. Idea for the prize so far are a grill or something like size/value.
Our first big event of the year will be our 4-6 Grade Talent Show. Flyers have already gone out with talent show and audition information. Auditions will be held 9/16 & 9/17 5-7 in the High School Auditorium. We are looking to fill 20 acts of 3 minutes or less. We will have 3 judges the night of the show that are Liberty Alumni! Rehearsals will be 9/23 & 9/24 5:30-8 and we will add a 3rd day if it's needed. We will be looking for many volunteers for this event - for volunteers of the backstage and green room(choir room) they will also need to be there for the rehearsals. There are also show night only spots to be filled - if you would like to volunteer, sign up here Talent Show Volunteers The show itself will be Friday, 9/26 at 6pm - asking kids and volunteers to be there at 5:15, and the board will arrive at 5. We will be selling light concessions (popcorn, candy, pop & water) and flowers with notecards for the show participants.
Our next event will be in October and will be our Trunk or Treat with Halloween Dance. We are so excited for this! It will be held both outside and inside the school on Friday, October 24. The Trunk or Treat portion will house our vendors/businesses outside while participating teachers are inside handing out candy. That portion of the event will be 5:30-6:30. Students and their families can then venture into the cafeteria for the Halloween Dance 6:30-8:00. We will have activities and a DJ for all. Chips and drinks will be for sale, as well as food trucks in the parking lot. This will be open to all P-6 students and families and tickets will be given out prior to the event to ensure only Liberty families are admitted. This will be a free event with the option of food purchases.
As always, we are constantly looking for new faces to join the PTA. If you have any fun ideas to make our student's and staff's experience better in any way, please join us! You can also send any questions or concerns to lspto44505@gmail.com and we will be sure to help in any way we can!

March 4th, 2025
Our March meeting was held at Senor Jalapenos on March 4th at 6pm. We started out by discussing the upcoming Jane's Stromboli fundraiser. The sale will run from April 7th-April 18th. We will submit these orders after tallying the order totals on April 25th. Our set pick up day will be May 8th from 5:30-6:30pm. We then discussed the status of our Yearbook orders. The last day for staff and PTA members to upload pictures to the google drive will be March 21st. Parents, if you have photos you would like to submit, please send them to lspto44505@gmail.com. April 11th will be the last day to order. Students and staff can order these online or with a form received from the school/ the office.
Our Valentine's Day Candy Gram sale was succesful! We sold $297.65 in candy grams. We purchased the ring pops and straws for $229.08. We didn't have any idea on how many we may sell so we purchased more than necessary. The remainder of these ring pops and straws will be sold at our Someone Special Dance in May. February's Donut Day was another successful activity that made us $70.00. As always a big thank you to our friends at the Liberty Wal-Mart for donating those donuts to us!
We are looking to schedule another spirit night for April, we will be reaching out to Texas Roadhouse, Papa Pazzoulis, Bob Evans, Boscovs and Dick's Sporting Goods to see if they would like to participate.
We are going to start looking for design ideas for our last day of school t-shirt sale. We also plan to decide on a company for that as well. Knightline and Allie Gumont were mentioned as possibilities. These shirts will be for sale in April.
Our Bookfair is just around the corner! We will be set up in the Library on March 24-28th during school hours. We will also be inviting our Leopard Families to shop with us from 3-7pm on Monday March 24th! We are currently in need of some parent volunteers to help our students shop. Check out our volunteer tab to sign up for that if you are available!
Our Someone Special dance will be held Saturday May 24th from 6-8:30pm in the cafeteria. The theme will be "A Night Under the Stars". This will be a semi-formal dance that is similar to a father-daughter dance but will include all of our students. We decided to forgo the catering/ spaghetti dinner idea and instead have local food trucks parked outside. This will give our families the option to eat or not and free up some of our budget for decorations and an extra activity. We decided to use that extra money for a 360* photo booth. We will be looking to book our DJ & photo booth soon. Memory Lane is scheduled to take portraits for us again. That will be an optional additional cost for the students allowing us to keep our ticket prices lower as well.
We discussed our ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week and are so excited to gather support from our community to help our staff know just how much we appreciate them!
We discussed the idea of a Talent Show - thanks Lacey for the great idea!- as a fundraiser. We all absolutely love this idea and can't wait to watch it take shape next fall!
As always, we are constantly looking for new faces to join the PTA. If you have any fun ideas to make our student's and staff's experience better in any way, please join us! You can also send any questions or concerns to lspto44505@gmail.com and we will be sure to help in any way we can!
February 5th, 2025
Our February meeting was held in the Blott Guy Cafeteria at 6pm. We discussed our upcoming Valentine's Day Candy Grams as well as our 100 Lucky Ducks event for the 100th day of school! 100 lucky ducks would be hidden throughout each school as well as three golden ducks in teacher only areas. The students get to find and keep the regular ducks while finding a golden duck would win the lucky teacher a $50 gift card to The Supply Room or $10 to Dunkin Donuts. We planned to sell Valentines Day Candy grams on February 12th and pass them out on February 13th. The ring pops would be sold for $1 with a personalized message attached. We plan to provide twisty heart shaped straws as an alternative to the candy. We decided on our theme and daily plans for Teacher Appreciation Week, come join us at our next meeting to help plan these fun surprises for our teachers! Lacey, our treasurer in training, came up with a great theme for our Someone Special Dance. The dance will be 'A Night Under the Stars'. We plan to start searching for a DJ and food catering options!
January 8th, 2025
Our January Meeting was held at 6pm at Bull & Bear. We started off by going over our financial report for the month of December. Our Holiday Shop was a success despite having fewer parent volunteers than last year. While our overall goal is to put the holiday shop on for the students to have the experience rather than profit as we would a fundraiser we did end up making $1,217.33. We also had our Winter Holiday Parties where we put together a bingo game and passed out yoohoos and biscoff cookies. We went $30 over our budget for this event due to purchasing reusable bingo chips that can be used in the future. Our total cost for the game and the snacks was $530.62 We also had our Grinch event in December. We budgeted $300 for this event and only ended up spending $186.06 in the cookies, cocoa, grinch character, and the photo backdrop decorations. We did not want to charge anything for this event but we did make 50% of profits from the grinch photos. We made $70.00 from the photos which put our event at a loss of $116.06. Our overall annual budget is looking great currently with having spent $2065.76 and having raised $7038.34.
We discussed the progress with our yearbook project. We announced our Cover Competition Winners (Peighton Wittway & Liam Morrison). We have sent out links to the teachers to begin uploading photos for our yearbook. Sales will begin in February and the books will cost $13 each.
The Valentines Day Candy Grams were discussed. We decided to sell a treat with the notes already attached. We debated between the conversation hearts and ring pops but landed on ring pops so they would be less of a mess for teachers and easier to ensure they take them home instead of eating them at school. We also decided to sell heart shaped crazy straws for any students with food allergies. We will be assembling these at the February Meeting and selling them for $1 during the lunch hour.
We will be organizing the PTA closet on the 31st of this month to help future events run smoothly. Shelves and Totes have been purchased for that project and we are excited to be able to make our little closet much more functional!
We discussed our upcoming Book Fair in March, we plan to do one evening sale and are including an adult best seller section this year.
We then moved onto our Someone Special Dance. We narrowed our dates down to May 9th and May 16th. The dance will be from 6-8:30. We are currently looking for a great DJ as well as vendors for food options.
We did not have our donut day in December due to the cold and many other events scheduled for that week!
We are looking into Popeyes, Kravitz, and K'nafa for future spirit nights.
We discussed our 100th Day ideas and decided on '100 Lucky Ducks'. The pk-2 and 3-6 buildings will each have 100 little rubber ducks hidden throughout the school for the kids to find and keep. There will also be two golden ducks. The student or teacher who finds the golden duck will be gifted $50 to the supply room on Belmont Ave.
When discussing member ideas it was brought up to sell carnations for Mothers Day. We all loved this idea and plan to work on that idea more next month.
December 4th, 2024
We had our December meeting at 6pm on Wednesday at Denny's. Due to the winter storm we decided to postpone assembling Holiday Party Classroom Kits.
We discussed the ongoing Holiday Shop which is running pretty smoothly despite a lack of parent volunteers. Thank you to anyone who was able to help out!
We discussed our Holiday Party plans. We will be providing a Blizzard themed Bingo game as well as Yoo-hoos and Biscoff cookies! We will have other snack options in the office for those with allergies/ dietary restrictions.
Our grinch event will be Dec 11th and we plan to have a grinch picture background that will be free as well as a family photo backdrop that will cost $10 from Memory Lane.
We did really well with our fall magazine sale fundraiser profiting $4,792. All orders have been picked up and we look forward to doing this sale again next fall!
We will be announcing our Yearbook Cover Contest Winner on Friday Dec. 13th!
We profited $108 with our Marcos Spirit Night and Mrs. Collins 2nd grade class was our Pizza Party Winner!
November 6th, 2024
We had our November meeting at 6pm on Wednesday at Senor Jalapenos. We started out by welcoming our new member Kalyn. She is already bringing so much help and fun energy to the group. We look forward to having her on our team!
Our trunk or treat event went wonderfully with a long line of happy trick or treaters! We were delightfully under budget only spending $74.68 allowing us to profit $111.32 from our concession stand!
We were also under budget for our Halloween parties this year spending only $444.71 on our bracelet craft and snacks. The parties seemed to go well! We look forward to our winter holiday parties next month where we will be providing a Winter Bingo Game as well as snacks!
Our holiday shop is quickly approaching, December 2-6th. We will be sending out a form to sign up to volunteer for certain time slots that week. We will need lots of parent support for this event so please let us know if you can help even if for only an hour!
Our magazine sale order has been submitted and we look forward to seeing our profit with this fundraiser. The students did an amazing job selling this year and we are so appreciative! We will be planning a day to sort classroom orders as well as deliver these orders to the classrooms.
Our October Donut day was another success! This month we profited $87.05! November's Donut Day will be on November 22nd this month!
We discussed planning a free Hot Cocoa with the grinch event for the students. Potentially on December 11th from 5-7:30. Students will get hot cocoa and possibly cookies if we can find a sponsor while they mingle with the grinch. Memory Lane would also be present offering Family Christmas pictures for only $10 where they would receive their 5x7 on the spot! This event is pending approval and we will update more on this idea as we go.
We also discussed a potential Parents Night Out for Valentines Day. This is early stages of planning and will be discussed in greater detail at next month's meeting.
Lastly we discussed our yearbooks which we are SO excited to be bringing back to the elementary school. These will be high quality paperback books with pages for each classroom, staff, memory pages by grade, event pages, as well as a fun about me page where the students can fill in answers to questions like favorite teacher, funniest memory, etc. The yearbooks will be $13 each and will be able to be ordered from Jan-April. Students will receive yearbooks in early May. We are having a cover designing contest and those submissions are due Nov 25th. The PTA will select the top 5 front and back designs which will be voted on during our Holiday Shop! We are so excited to see all of the artwork!
Our November Spirit night is with Girard Marcos Pizza this month and will be November 11th-13th. We will earn 20% on online orders and 15% on phone orders. The classroom with the most orders will win a pizza party!
Thank you to everyone who made the meeting and also those of you who look forward to our monthly meeting emails! We Look forward to another month of memories made for our students!
October 8th, 2024
Thank you to everyone who made it out to our meeting last night! We didn't end up assembling the halloween craft kits due to the port closure shipping delays but will be scheduling a day to meet to do that very soon! Be on the lookout for the email with that info!
We started out by discussing the success of our first Donut Day! While we were unsure how this would go with making sure to not interfere with the well oiled machine that is the Liberty Drop Off line it ended up being a great little event! Our friends at Belmont Wal-Mart donated 5 Doz donuts to our group allowing us to profit $62.00 (including a few donations) after selling out! Wal-Mart has shown us incredible support by agreeing to donate 100 sugar coated donuts a month to the PTA going forward! This is an amazing gesture and we are so thankful to them! We look forward to our next donut day on Friday, October 25th! We agreed on purchasing a rolling cart to make this (and many other events) easier that will be kept in the PTA Closet.
Our first spirit night with Handel's earned us $40 which we counted as a success since most students didn't receive their flyers after an issue with the mailboxes. We plan to make the next one even more successful! Every penny raised adds up and this is an easy way to keep earning that also helps out our community partners!
Cassie then told us all about the hard work she has been putting in the last few weeks to get us approved for a grant from Wal-Mart for up to $5,000. We are so appreciative of how much time she has spent researching this for us. She will be spending some time with Sabbrina, our treasurer to get set up on PayPal to make the grant approval easier for us. We will hear more on this next meeting! Thank you, Cassie!
We were excited to learn that Memory Lane Photography won't be requiring us to pay a digital download fee for the student pictures for the yearbook. They will also be giving us some pricing options to compare to our current Company Picaboo Yearbooks. More info to come regarding Yearbooks! Please send any pictures from Lioberty events at school or extracurriculars to lspto44505@gmail.com to have them included in the yearbooks!
PTA tee shirts should be delivered very soon. I will let you all know when I get them! Hopefully our spirit shop will be launching in the next few weeks.
The Magazine sale started October 7th! Extra magazine packets as well as order forms (for those selling like crazy! Woohoo!) can be found in the office. The reward packages are so exciting and we expect this to be another great fundraiser! Forms are due October 23rd to their teachers. All items will be delivered before Christmas break. We will need support with submitting the orders as well as disbursing items once delivered. Let us know if you can help!
Trunk or Treat is scheduled for Thursday October 24th. We currently have 14 trunks participating but would love to have at least 20 with 25 as our goal! Please let us know if your family would like to set up a trunk or if you know someone with a local business that would like to participate! We will be voting for best costume and best trunk out of those who pass out candy and the winners will receive gift cards to our local Dennys! Thank you to Denny's for donating those gift cards to us! We planned to have both hot apple cider and hot cocoa for sale at the trunk or treat along with burgers, hot dogs waters and chips.
Our halloween parties are in the works. The items we ordered for our halloween craft came in smaller than expected and too late to assemble the kits after shipping delays so we will be returning a few of the items and planning a new date for a halloween kit assembly meeting! We have a handful of classrooms that we still need parent volunteers for and will be addressing that issue this week.
We came up with a handful of restaurants to have our October spirit night and will be reaching out to them to see who is available for us! More info on that soon!
Our spring Science assembly is booked with Hagerman The Extreme Science Magician. He was on America's Got Talent and will be visiting our school on May 15th for two back to back shows for our students. Here is the link to his website to see what STEM fun we are in store for!
https://hagermania.com/school-science-assemblies/
As a reminder our meetings are every second Tuesday of the month. Our next meeting will be
November 12th at Senor Jalapenos at 6pm. Come have some fun with us as we map out our Holiday month events!
As always Thank you for your support!
September 10th, 2024
We welcomed our new members and introduced our board members for the year. Cassie Pennachio and Samantha Gassner are our new co- presidents. Shannon Sefcik is learning the way of the treasurer from the elite PTA Master Sabbrina Landers and Dawn Gasser is our Secretary.
We went over our budget and goals for the 2024-2025 school year which will be posted to our website this week.
Our website is a new addition that we believe will increase PTA visibility and communication. It will have a page for all of our events where parents can sign up to volunteer. It will have a spirit shop page to purchase Liberty Merch, a donation page, a page to see the meeting summaries from each week, and best of all a page dedicated to our teachers where parents can find their amazon wishlists. The goal here is to help support our students' classrooms and spoil our teachers. They do so much for us!
We will be doing monthly spirit nights at local restaurants to raise a little bit of money here and there. This month was at Handel's, unfortunately our flyers were accidentally removed from the mailboxes and a lot of (if not all) our students did not receive their flyer. I apologize for this and will get this issue resolved before next month's Bull & Bear night!
Our open house event went very well and we were so happy to see many smiling faces at our table. We ended up with a loss of about $12 after concessions and spirit wear sales. This money will definitely be recouped with our Trunk or Treat event as we have many left over concessions.
We are planning for monthly Donut Days every final Friday of the month where we will sell donuts in the drop off lines that morning for $1.
We will be making yearbooks for the students this year to purchase for around $12-$20. This is a new project so we will update you as we figure out more details.
We discussed our Trunk or Treat Event scheduled for October 24th. We are looking for local businesses/families to participate in setting up a trunk as well as parents to volunteer with the concession stand and directing the participating cars for set up. Set up starts at 4:45pm in the back lot by the stadium. The trunk or treat will run from 5:30-7:30. Let us know if you have a business interested in having a trunk or even just donating candy! We can't wait for this event. It was a lot of fun last year!
We are currently deciding on a fall craft for our Halloween parties. We will be assembling the craft kits at our next meeting in the library.
We then opened the discussion for concerns, questions and ideas. Samantha and Cassie brought up the idea to start fundraising for metal detectors for our school buildings. We do not have any cost estimates yet we just wanted to see if it was something the group is interested in. There was a unanimous decision to move forward with the idea. Ideas for fundraising were hosting a parents night out with bingo and/or a cake walk. This is a project that will take multiple fundraising efforts and community wide support. We will discuss more on this at the next meeting.
