The purpose of this mock-consultancy report was to identify areas suitable for a hydrological research facility with on-site residence for scientists working in the King Range National Conservation area in southern Humboldt County, California. "Representatives" from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife included several important criteria for site selection, including a preference for flat areas, proximity to existing roads, and proximity to rivers, creeks or the ocean. Additionally, they stated that the encampment should not be near existing communities or campsites, since the purpose of the new site is to be closer to the remote regions of the conservation area. Finally, the report includes a campsite design and layout in one of the suitable areas.Â
