The objective of this report was to identify clusters of counties that exhibited similar Democratic Party vote shares (as percentage of the total votes for that county) in both the 2012 and 2016 presidential elections, respectively. By focusing on clustering of similar democratic vote shares, we are able to learn more about the influence of spacial proximity on the outcome of the election in a given county for each election year, as well as to identify larger clusters of counties which voted similarly and how they changed over time. Additionally, this report includes a map displaying clusters of counties where the percentage of the democratic vote changed from 2012-2016.About The Project:
