Joining us tonight to bring "THE LIST" to life was Larry, Jack, Irene (welcome back), Betty, Frank, Anne, PJ, Ken, Jen, Wendy Sue, Sally, Dave, and Dawn.

Our starter, BIG ROCK CANDY MOUNTAIN was the best version so far. No dragging out the ending shenanigans by Ken and we all ended together. Yay!

Now, a word about THE LIST. How well something was received or played may vary with the participants at the time or the precise chord sheet used or the phase of the moon (just kidding). So, some of the numbers played tonight were not exactly stellar but all had potential for fun. Some need more work and I will be adding a few more asterisks.

I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND (Arlene)

Good. Most Beatles song are a safe bet.

WEAVE ME THE SUNSHINE (Arlene)

Ken said he did not remember this one but we played it this past April for the Folk Songs theme. A great 1986 Peter, Paul and Mary number. Now, I admit there were no comments about this one but I like it and felt it was easy to follow along. Five simple chords with a positive message. Ken fussed about this one thinks it should come off the list. What do you think?

RUBY TUESDAY (Arlene)

This was one of the first songs I heard played at LI Strummers 5 years ago when I only knew 2 chords. I thought I’d never be able to play it. Now it’s a favorite of mine. Well played tonight.

MY WAY (Arlene)

I think Ken’s brother Bill brought us this one recently. We belted it out with great drama but it will need a small bit of work. Still, it was good.

RAMBLING MAN (Arlene)

This is such fun to play with gusto.

DON’T THINK TWICE IT’S ALRIGHT (Irene)

YOU ARE THE SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE (Irene)

A great Stevie Wonder number with such cool sounding chords. Someone said it was a keeper. Yes indeed!

YOU BELONG TO ME (Irene)

Pretty We listened to a snippet of Bob Dylan singing this. It sounded like he just inhaled some helium. Who thought that recording was a good idea???

SINGING IN THE RAIN (PJ)

Short and sweet

ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK (PJ)

Good until the end. Dr Uke has a better chord sheet. Can you change it Ken? We used it August 31, 2018.

MRS. ROBINSON (PJ)

Good

SWEET CAROLINE (PJ)

Good

I WILL (Irene)

A very pretty song but needs work in verse 3 with the timing of the F C strum as well as the outro.

AIN’T SHE SWEET and FIVE FOOT TWO (Wendy Sue)

Must haves in any ukulele repertoire.

BUTTON UP YOUR OVERCOAT (Wendy Sue)

The lyrics made Ken crack up.

YES SIR THAT’S MY BABY (Wendy Sue)

Gave us the best ending of the night.

HEY GOOD LOOKIN’ (Wendy Sue)

Nice

WHEN I’M 64 (Wendy Sue)

ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE YELLOW POLKA DOT BIKINI (Wendy Sue)

And I brought my cow bell for added fun. We’ve done it better but it definitely belongs on the list.

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN (Jen)

Good

BRING ME SUNSHINE (Jen)

Always fun and a great ending for the night.

Our next theme will be NOUNS: Person Place or Thing which must be in the TITLE.

Until then, you keep strumming,

-- Arlene.
