Dannielle Gunn Engler

Varsity Head Coach

Coach Gunner played for Ray Baker and is a 2005 graduate of Lakewood High School. In 2009, Coach Gunner began coaching softball at Lakewood High School.

In 2016, Ben and Coach Gunner tied the knot at ALL STAR PARK at home plate. Coach Gunner is a proud Mom of three girls, Rylee (3.25), Kinzlee (2) and Charlee (Newborn)! Coach Gunner loves Family Time, Game Nights, Interior design, Crafting, Garage Saling and Competing at anything!

Coach Gunner is excited for this upcoming softball season! Go Tigers!

Melodeigh Christiansen

Varsity Assistant Coach

Hi, I’m Coach Melodeigh Christiansen. I played softball at Lakewood High School and Bethany College, where I was a first baseman and catcher. I’ve been coaching for 10 years and love being back at Lakewood, giving back to the program that shaped me. I’m a proud mom of two, a dog lover, and a big fan of the Broncos, the Avs, and anything orange and black. Go Tigers! Coach Mel is our Pitching and Catching Coach!

Ryan Gleason

A Colorado native and graduate of Littleton High School and the University of Northern Colorado.

Baseball was my passion growing up, and I played competitively for 12 years, including serving as varsity captain as an outfielder. After high school, I played competitive slow-pitch softball for another 10 years.

Once I became a father of two daughters, my passion shifted from playing to coaching. Since 2019, I’ve coached girls fastpitch softball, including five years at the competitive travel level. I love the fast pace of the game and enjoy watching these athletes grow in both skill and confidence each season.

Outside of softball, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughters, fly fishing, camping, smoking BBQ, and cheering on the Broncos and Nuggets.

I’m excited to be part of the Lakewood High School Girls Fastpitch program and look forward to helping these outstanding student-athletes grow both on and off the field.

Manuel Hernandez

JV Head Coach

Born and raised from West Texas I have a passion for sports and leadership. From a multi-sport athlete in high school I transitioned into coaching my children, spending 8 years in Little League baseball, softball, and local league football, basketball, and soccer. I have also now coached club/competitive baseball and softball for 2 years, enhancing skills in fostering teamwork and sportsmanship. With 18 years of military leadership experience, I bring a strong sense of discipline, commitment, and strategic thinking to student athletes.

Jesus Avalos

JV Assistant Coach

I was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and have been a proud resident of Denver, Colorado for the past 25 years. I have a passion for coaching and sports with 4 years of experience coaching recreational softball and 2 years at the club/competitive level, bringing both dedication and expertise to Lakewood High School and the field. Outside of coaching, I enjoy playing adult co-ed softball, attending car shows, and spending time outdoors.
