RETURN TO SCHOOL 5 DAYS!
Follow the instructions in this PDF. You will need to use your school email address to log into https://classroom.google.com/
The Stream
This is the running blog of all action on the Google Classroom group. It will list messages from your teacher and notifications of new material, documents and assignments being uploaded.
It usually lists actions in time order, and includes a message feature. You can directly comment to the whole group or just the teacher.
Remember that this is a public forum, so everyone will see what you write and it needs to be appropriate. In different classes, this feature may be turned off by your teacher. Your teacher also has the authority to remove any unwanted comments or posts.
Classwork (and Topic Folders)
The Classwork page shows you all the (links to) material, slides, documents, uploads and work that have been added and/or assigned by your teacher. This page usually scrolls in order of the topic folders created by the teacher. These topic folders are located on the left-hand side menu bar of the classroom and stream pages and can help you to navigate directly to particular information or work. Material that is not filed under a specific topic folder, will sit at the top of the classwork list.
The “VIEW YOUR WORK” tab under classwork shows a list of only the actual assignments that your teacher has set for submission. It does not show other tasks or work instructions that may have been mentioned in material or documents elsewhere in classwork.
Submit all assigned work in CLASSWORK. Find the task that was assigned and upload it there.
Do NOT submit work on the Stream - everyone will be able to see it. The Stream is just for announcements and communicating with the teacher.
Class teachers can add parents/carers to become Google Classroom guardians, allowing you to receive notifications when announcements or tasks are assigned to your child by their teacher(s). The classroom teacher and/or Year Adviser should add guardians as students join each class.
We are using the primary email address supplied to the school on enrolment. If you would like a 2nd email address added to be a guardian, please contact the Year Adviser with the additional email address.
If the computer being used does NOT have any Office programs installed, visit https://www.office.com/ and login with your child' school email address.
When logged in, click "Install Office" (found on the top-right corner of the page) and choose Install Office. Allow the installer to download, and run the file.
Once Office is installed, OR if you already have Office installed, open the "Microsoft Office" program and login with your child's school email address again. This login will provide a free Education licence for every Office program.
All NSW Education students receive an email address ending in @education.nsw.gov.au (e.g. John Citizen may have an email address of john.citizen32@education.nsw.gov.au).
Students can access their email by logging into the NSW Education Student Portal at https://portal.det.nsw.edu.au with their username (the first part of their email address - e.g. john.citizen32) and school password.
A student's email address will be in the format of firstname.lastname#@education.nsw.gov.au (e.g. best.citizen10@education.nsw.gov.au). You will need the full email address to log into the Sentral Student Portal, Google Education apps and Microsoft Office 365.
The first part (best.citizen10) is their username. They need this to log into the NSW Education Student Portal at https://portal.det.nsw.edu.au
Email the ICT Coordinator directly (Michael.Foy1@det.nsw.edu.au) and it will be reset.
Please contact the school office to have the 2nd email address added to the Sentral Address Book. Alternatively, please send the details to Michael.Foy1@det.nsw.edu.au and it will be added.
Visit https://nsw-students.onthehub.com/WebStore/Welcome.aspx and register with a student school email address. Follow the on-screen instructions to select Adobe Creative Cloud.
