Personal boundaries are inherently difficult to discuss. A lot of people either don’t care or aren’t aware of other people’s boundaries. Even those with good intentions make mistakes all the time trying to communicate boundaries. This problem only gets worse in large groups of people, such as work or school, where it's hard for people to find time to communicate with each other clearly.
The goal of this app is to make a welcoming environment for people to learn about their personal boundaries and discuss them safely. With the use of our course mascot CMGaTo, we will guide people through the process of learning about boundaries.
Our goal is NOT to solve interpersonal conflicts or to give targeted advice to individuals. If you have problematic people in your group, this app should not be used to communicate your problems with them.
The app offers two main features: A Piechart themed questionnaire and a conversation tool. The manual will guide you step by step through everything this app has to offer. The chapters can be read in any order and be understood without knowledge from other chapters. However, we strongly recommend reading them in written order.
Check out the game through the link below, we hope you get to have a-meow-zing conversations with people meow!
In the early stages of the project, I worked on the course's mascot: CMGaTo. Since the character itself is already established, I needed to ideate different concepts to develop an art style for the character.
Besides the character concept art, my primary focus throughout the project was creating backgrounds and UI for the game.
The background assets split into field and board backgrounds. The parallax field background went through changes after conducting user surveys to ensure that the environment had a positive emotional impact on the user. The colours became more saturated, paper texture more diverse, and shapes were simple and round with small jagged paper-like details. The animated assets had three to four frames, with an extra shadow asset to create more depth.
This background is used on the projected screen to display the room code and amount of people who join the lobby.

The board backgrounds are used in scenes containing a large amount of UI assets. There are simple and paper-like backgrounds used in the game progression, and a corkboard background used for the game settings.

I created decorative and functional UI assets for the game. These included sliders, buttons, decorative signs, pins, and paper tiles. In collaboration with the team designer and engineer, I would create assets for generating tables and modular scaling.
The early assets were more detailed with rough jagged edges. After conducting a user survey, these assets needed to become more simple and able to stand out from the background.

After planning a storyboard and consulting my team, I filmed and edited the trailer for our product. It needed to showcase the interaction between the users, as well as the functionalities of the product in a real-life scenario.
