The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office 10 successfully conducted the LGMED iSHARE: Infographics and Canva Training Course on February 14, 2024, at the DILG Regional Office 10, Cagayan de Oro City. The training aimed to strengthen the visual communication and graphic design capabilities of LGMED personnel, enabling them to create compelling and informative materials using Canva, a user-friendly online design tool.
The half-day session was attended by 13 participants and facilitated by Ms. Abigail Hope Luna, who provided a comprehensive guide to designing impactful infographics. The training covered key topics, including:
Understanding the concept and purpose of infographics.
Exploring how visual storytelling enhances communication.
Identifying different infographic formats and their appropriate use.
Learning the fundamentals of layout, typography, and color theory.

Designing an Infographic Using Canva
Following the lecture, participants engaged in a practical design session, applying their newfound skills to create their infographics using Canva. This hands-on activity allowed them to explore various templates, icons, color schemes, and typography tools, ensuring that their outputs were both informative and visually engaging.
In her message of appreciation, LGMED Chief Corazon S. Vicente expressed gratitude to Ms. Abigail Hope Luna for sharing her expertise and commended the participants for their enthusiasm in learning digital design skills. She emphasized the significance of infographics as a powerful tool in effectively communicating complex information to various audiences, particularly in government reporting and public information campaigns.
LGOO II John Mark C. Casiño, who delivered the closing address, highlighted the importance of visual storytelling in modern communication. He noted that mastering Canva and infographic design enables government personnel to create more engaging, accessible, and impactful materials that resonate with stakeholders.
The LGMED iSHARE: Infographics and Canva Training Course is part of DILG Region 10’s initiative to enhance digital literacy and communication skills among its personnel.
