African Swine Fever (ASF) cases in the Philippines, which affect pigs and wild boars, are rapidly spreading. As a response, all DILG Field Offices are mandated to encourage all local governing authorities in their jurisdictions to take steps to prevent the spread of ASF.
The implementation of ASF outbreak containment measures is mandated by the DILG Advisory on Measures to Control the Spread of African Swine Fever (ASF), dated September 25, 2019, for all local governmental bodies within their jurisdiction.
The department encourages all local chief executives to immediately mobilize local health units and volunteers on the following activities:
• conduct of clean-up drives;
• search and destroy operations in high-risk areas to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites; and
• declogging and proper drainage operations.
Moreover, lgus are reminded to adhere to the following DILG - issued memorandum circulars, to wit:
• MC 2019 - 176 Re: “Conduct Of Sabayang 4-O’clock Habit Para Deng-Get Out: A Daily Clean-Up Drive For The Prevention And Eradication Of Dengue And Other Epidemic”;
• MC 2019 - 130 Re: Advocacy On The Prevention Of Dengue And Other Mosquito-Borne Diseases;
• MC 2016 - 31 Re: Advocacy On The Prevention Against Zika Virus And Other Mosquito-Borne Diseases; And
• MC 2012 - 016 Re: Askyon Barangay Kontra Dengue (Abkd).
