Selling, furnishing, offering, buying, serving, or taking intoxicating liquor, except hotels and other establishments duly certified by the Department of Tourism as tourist oriented and habitually in the business of catering to foreign tourists upon prior authority of the Commission, and foreign tourists taking intoxicating liquor in said authorized hotels or establishments (Liquor Ban). Last day for CLAV to send by E-mail Notices (LAV Form No. 08-A) to all Municipal/ City/District EOs concerned, copy furnished their respective PES and REDs of the List of Voters who actually voted under the Local Absentee Voting.
The election offenses are not limited to those enumerated above but include other election offenses penalized under the OEC and other election laws.
PERIOD OF THE BAN
January 12, 2025 to June 11, 2025
PROHIBITED ACTS
Unless authorized by the CBFSC, the following are the prohibited acts during the election period:
To carry firearms and deadly weapons outside residence or place of business, and in all public places;
To engage the services of security personnel;
To transport firearms and/or their parts, ammunitions and/or their components, and explosives and/or their components and/or controlled chemicals.
PENALTIES
Imprisonment from one (1) to six (6) years
Permanent disqualification from public office and loss of right to vote
Deportation for foreigners, but only after prison term is served.
The COMELEC, through the Committee on the Ban on Firearms and Security Concerns (CBFSC), has the sole and exclusive authority to issue Certificates of Authority (CA) authorizing the:
bearing, carrying or transporting of firearms or other deadly weapons; or
employment, availment or engagement of the services of security personnel or bodyguards; or
transport or delivery of firearms and/or its parts, ammunition and/or its components, and, explosives and/or its components.
