Contest Office: Located in our main office. You will receive a map of the building when you check in.
Home Base: Large Gym located to the right of the main entrance

Load in: If you have heavy pieces you may use Door 44 - side door to the gym (located on west side of the building by the baseball fields)
Any large pieces that cannot fit in a standard door way will need to be brought in through DOOR 8. This is on the backside of the building off of 47th St.
Center Info: All information can be found in the tabs labeled "Center Information"
Test Room: If you'd like to test your projectors before you perform, utilize our test room located in room 1185
Driver's Lounge: Room 1320 will be used as the driver's lounge
Dressing/Makeup Rooms: We have rooms designated as dressing/makeup rooms for One Act and Choral Reading
Prop Weapons, Tobacco, or Alcohol: Please read the policies below. If you are using a prop that resembles a weapon, tobacco, or alcohol it must be communicated before contest and stored in our secure location until you are actively rehearsing or performing
The main door is the only door that will be unlocked during the event, please remind your students for safety reasons, do not open external doors for anyone
Drop Off: Eastbound on NW Aurora Ave. Use the bus lane in front of the building and enter through the main entrance
Bus Parking: Your driver may follow the arrows and park at the aquatic center lot, and use the trails to walk up to the building
Load/Unload: The star on the map is the side door to the gym where you can load/unload your larger pieces. Please do not use this as an entrance and work quickly.
No real weapons will ever be used in Drama/Speech class, on the stage or at contests. Play weapons that are necessary for projects, scenes, or productions should be provided by the school. Students should not be asked to bring a weapon-like prop to school. Hoover High School’s Drama/Speech Personnel are responsible for storing the prop weapons in a locked room, or secure, concealed storage area. Students using these props must be supervised at all times. All Drama/Speech students are required to be educated on the proper handling and safety techniques of all “weapons” used.
All such “weapons” will be facsimiles (toys) or non-functioning prop weapons. Examples are but not limited to

Spring Plastic Knife
Plastic Swords
Dull Rapiers
The prop should be wrapped or in a case whenever it is transported from one area of the school to another. The moving should only be done by a school’s Drama/Speech Personnel. Students should never carry these props through the halls.
Students are not allowed to check out “weapons”. If a “weapon” is to be used it must be picked up and turned in by a school’s Drama/Speech Personnel.
Starter Pistols should be stored in the school vault. Starter pistols may only be used in productions and must have written permission from the building principal and strict safety guidelines.
If a weapon-like prop is used in a rehearsal/performance and the sound can be heard, Administrators in the building must be notified of the time that sound will be.

Hoover High School’s Drama/Speech Personnel are responsible for storing the prop tobacco, vapor products or alcohol in a locked room, or secure, concealed storage area. Students using these props must be supervised at all times. Use of real tobacco, vapor products, or alcohol is a violation of state law for the student(s) and the school.
