Welcome:
The purpose of this ePortfolio is to showcase my learning journey and experiences in the OTA program. It will highlight my community engaged learning projects, as well as high impact learning activities and assignments.
About Me:
My name is Laura Guthrie. I am currently a student at Salt Lake Community College, studying Occupational Therapy Assisting. My anticipated graduation date is May of 2026. I was born and raised in Minnesota and moved to Eagle Mountain, Utah with my family when I was 12.
I married my best friend, Shane in 2022. In my free time I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, and cooking. My goal right now is to graduate as an Occupational Therapy Assistant! After that I would love to travel to Japan with my husband.
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy is a form of therapy that helps individual's accomplish the things that "occupy" their time. It helps them achieve a higher form of independence by looking at them as a "whole" and identifying the occupational areas that need to be addressed. Occupational Therapy is client-centered and the client's goals are based on what they would like to accomplish and interventions are specifically designed for the individual and their needs.
