I use i3 as my main GUI, with KDE also installed "just in case". If I try to quit Kate when I have an unsaved document open, it throws up a dialog asking if I'm sure. It also plays a chord sound. I hate hearing this stupid sound whenever I leave my volume unmuted, but I have no idea where it's coming from. I checked "KDE System Settings -> Sound -> Notification sounds" and those are muted already. I can't think of anywhere else. Doubtless there are probably a few other notifications besides just the file dialog. How can I make sure I disabled all of them?

There is also a terminal bell that occasionally plays when (I think) the terminal is non-responsive. I already have "enable_audio_bell no" in my kitty config but I still hear it occasionally. What other places should I check for terminal sounds?

You said Sound>Notification sounds. I am saying Hardware>Audio. There is a section of hardware and under it there is audio. Just search Audio and you will find a option in your start menu. Did you try going into notifications and selecting applications, and then configuring events of Kate?

Oh I think I see now - I said Sound>Notification sounds, but there's actually no such section in KDE settings. I was thinking of Hardware>Audio, the same one you said (it looks the same for me as in your screenshot, including the "Notification Sounds" bar being at 0%). I just used the wrong name for it in the OP. Sorry about that.

I have a section KDE System Settings -> Personalization -> Notifications. Most of it is grayed out, because I don't have a notifications service set up yet: However, none of it looks related to sounds in any case.

You can change the sounds per account by opening the account settingsĀ  NotificationsĀ  Open system notification settings. Then press one of the channels belonging to one of the accounts and change the sound there.

It is just not possible to change the notification sound for every account! If set the sound for account 1 to sound A and then set account 2 to sound B, and then return to settings of account 1 there is also sound B set.

I upgraded to Mac OS Monterey (12.0.1) yesterday and since then I am not receiving app notification sounds at all. The notification alerts/banners do display, but the sounds which normally accompany them are nonexistent. This is a major issue for my workflow since I depend on Slack and am now missing messages.

Generally, you can change notification sounds for a particular app in the settings in the app itself, or going through the phone's settings--I've seen the option located in sounds, notifications, and under apps (I'm pretty sure most phones that I've done this on had multiple directions you could come at it from), in the past.

If you click on "in-app notification settings," it takes you to the app settings (pic 3)..... But clicking on notifications takes you right back to the phone's settings: apps:messages:notifications (pic 2).

Yes I have the same issue, message notifications make a sound when unlocked, but not when locked, Lock Screen does not even light up when notification received. If I wake it up the notification is there.

I took out my very old iPhone se (1st gen) and started using it again, it is supposed to be compatible with iOs 15. When I get text or email it vibrates very gently, like I can feel it if I'm holding it in my hand, but no notification sounds, no ringtone when I get a call.

Like many of you, my notifications volumes was minuscule compared to the ringer volume on my iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 15.0.2.Then I found the following solution suggested (I don't remember where I found it):

I have the same issue with notification sounds not working unless the phone is unlocked. However, the notification still sounds on my watch. When I turn off Bluetooth, the notification sound works just fine.

I listen to Pandora (via Chrome on Windows 10) when working. When I adjust the volume using the popup controller in the system tray, I get a notification sound, presumably to signal the change and also to give me a sample of the new volume. This is fine.

I just upgraded my Ubuntu Studio system from version 20.04 LTS to 22.04.1 LTS, and suddenly I hear different sounds during events like emptying the trash bin for example, which never happened in my two previous Ubuntu Studio installations 20.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS.

Looking into 'Systemsettings' I cannot find any tab to mute all these annoying notification-sounds. There is no such tab as 'Sounds'? I can only find the tab 'Audio', but nothing to further mute these notification-sounds.

You can either remove "oxygen sounds" from add/remove software, or just go into settings/notifications/applications/configure then go through the apps one by one and see which one has "configure events" and uncheck all the sound boxes

Thanks for the reply but the option to change the notification is not available for the Google Home app so that does not work. If you were to allow the change in the app, then it would be a solution but it currently is not.

UPDATE EDIT: I also experimented in MacroDroid with giving unique notification tones to Person, Pet, Vehicle, and Package notifications which also worked well. Currently working on combining type and cam tones and recording my own voice notification tones.

I'd like to permanently disable all desktop notification sounds. I still want the notification popups, and I still want all other audio to be played. The only sounds that I want to always be blocked are desktop notification sounds.

That's interesting. Xfce doesn't have any notification sounds by default, except for maybe the beep when logging out if the pcspkr driver is loaded. Specifically which notification sounds are you referring to?

This is not application-specific. I get notifications from several different browsers and several other applications, and these notifications all behave identically: same notification popup. same look and feel, same behavior, and same sound.

Thank you very much. I can lower the volume level of the system sounds via "pavucontrol", and it indeed also lowers the volume of those notification sounds. However, I don't want to lower the volume of *all* audio nor disable it. I just want to get rid of those notification sounds that I described. If I'm listening to something on line (for example), I want the system volume to be at a normal level. But then, any notifications which migh pop up make a very annoying sound. I want to get rid of those notification sounds completely, so I can keep audio enabled for other reasons, without being annoyed by those notifications.

The "System sounds" refers to the notification sounds you here. If you start up a media player or browser, you'll see a entry of its own that will be different from the System Sounds. In fact, you can turn system sounds right down and it won't affect the sounds of any media players.

I finally figured this out. It's indeed Chrome which is playing those annoying notification sounds, and this has nothing to do with Xfce4. And in Google's infinite "wisdom", they do not permit notification sounds to be turned off within Chrome. The Chrome notifications themselves can be turned on and off, but if those notifications are turned on, then the sounds will also be turned on. And these annoying sounds go through the normal audio stream, which means that I cannot disable those Chrome notification sounds unless I also disable all other audio.

i have to regularly re-login my wifi. they dump all routes for each user about 30 minutes after they login. so i wrote a couple Python3 scripts to watch for loss of reachability. then it disconnects my from the wifi and connects me back on, again (for another 30 minutes). i get a notification for the disconnect and another for the connect. they are fast enough for YouTube videos to play right through (99% do). i get no sounds from either of these. i think Xfce has nothing to do with these notifications otherwise i'd ask how to turn on sound and describe that i did nothing to make them silent on my Xubuntu 20.04.4 LTS system.

Has anyone found a solution to the Arlo notification on iphone ring tone problem. Everyone knows the problem, no pop up menu allowing the user to select a ring tone the can hear when sleeping at night. I tried a email notification to iphone but can't get that to work either work. I had hoped with Arlo operating system 4.03_2 the issue would be resolved but no such luck. Only solution I am left with unless someone can help is ditch Arlo or ditch iphone. If anyone out there has a solution Arlo to iPhone notification ring tone management please reply e24fc04721
