PROTOCOLS AND MEDICAL DIRECTOR MESSAGES
Medical Control Message from Dr. Troutman
Team:
Effective 10/1 at 0800, please refer to the following comments for Online Medical Control.
Consider calling your on duty chief first for advice or situational questions that you may not be certain about. Many questions can be answered by an experienced peer.
If you need to speak to a physician, there is now ONE phone number to call:
806-341-2839. Please program this into your phone device.
This number accesses a 'ring down' service which will ring my cell phone first, IF I fail to answer after 10 seconds, it will ring the main Lubbock UMC EC phone number. When someone answers, let them know you are with "EMS and need a physician for medical control". They should quickly connect you to an EC physician (ideally one of our Emergency Medicine Residents, who all have taken and passed our protocol tests). Once connected, please be concise with your report and with what specific question you have.
All the calls will be recorded and allow us to perform CQI on them and provide feedback when warranted.
I have been testing this a few weeks and do not expect any hiccups, but with anything new, there is always the possibility of some. Please let me know of any issues you experience.
Thank you for all you do,
Gerad T.
