The Local Fund Audit, Odisha is a statutory Audit Institution of Government of Odisha since 01.06.1952, when the Government of Odisha adopted the provisions of Local Fund Audit Act,1948. The Local Fund Audit Organisation is discharging the statutory functions – to conduct the audit of the institutions declared to be audited by the Local Fund Audit in their respective statutes/notified by the provincial Government, generate audit reports, take surcharge action, hear appeals against the surcharge orders and attend the appeal cases filed before the higher appellate authority. Presently the accounts of 16,316 nos of institutions are audited by the auditors of the Local Fund Audit, Odisha organisation.
