I was unfortunately not surprised to see that more than half of social media users that participated in Pew Research's survey believe that it is does more harm than good.
Social media can be harmful in many ways, just a few examples being: it's unsafe for kids, there is alot of misinformation and scams, there is alot of bias, and there is alot of disturbing/inappropriate content. The initial intent of social media was useful and harmless, but it's evolved way past the point of simply being a form of communication. It has been left unchecked to an irreversible point and has had detrimental effects on users as a result.
I learned that social media addiction is very common but people don't realize that they have it. This is even despite the majority of people being aware that social media is negatively affecting them.
