The counselors at Lexington High School believe:

 -All students are unique and valuable and will be served by the counseling program.-All students can learn and we recognize that they learn in different ways.-The school and community must embrace diversity and promote the value of the individual.-We should at all times act as the student advocate.-In the value of collaboration.-All students should have access to a full-time, state-certified, master’s-degreed-level school counselor and anationally certified career development facilitator to deliver the counseling program. 

And that the comprehensive school counseling program should:

-Be based on goals and developmental student competencies provided by the American School CounselorsAssociation, the South Carolina Department of Education, and Lexington County School District One.-Be proactive in addressing the students’ developmental needs in the areas of academic/personal/career.-Be planned in collaboration with all stakeholders in the school and community.-Be data driven to identify needs and set goals and expected outcomes of the counseling program.-Be committed to self-evaluation and continuous improvement.-Use available technology to enhance delivery of the counseling program.-Be evaluated by school and district supervisors to determine the effectiveness of the program. 

And that all counselors at Lexington High School will:

-Abide by the professional school counseling ethics as advocated by the American School Counselor Association.-Participate in professional development activities to maintain a quality school counseling program.-Share best practices with counselors from other schools.-Be attentive to and invested in the needs and personal/educational/career goals of all students.

Cats Calm Corner

LHS Counseling held its first ever Cats Calm Corner to help reduce anxiety and stress during the school day.

The counseling dept. hopes Cats Corner will be a regular activity happening once a month for students.

Cats Corner is an initiative to help minimize the stress levels we see in students and create a welcoming environment students can use to manage anxiety.
