1. INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy explains how the Android application Level Up ("Level Up", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information.
Level Up is designed as a local-first application. Most gameplay, productivity, progress, and preference data is stored directly on the user's device rather than in a Level Up cloud account.
This Privacy Policy also explains the limited circumstances in which information may be processed by third-party services used by Level Up, including Google Firebase, Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), and Google Play.
2. INFORMATION STORED LOCALLY ON YOUR DEVICE
Most Level Up data is stored locally on your device.
Depending on the features you use, this may include:
• tasks and task history;
• goals and activity records created inside the app;
• player progress and levels;
• XP and Coins;
• inventory, rewards, achievements, and similar game state;
• preferences and settings;
• accessibility preferences;
• Premium-related preferences and locally cached entitlement state;
• local backups;
• local synchronization state or queues;
• rewarded-ad reward history and limits;
• analytics and diagnostics consent preferences; and
• other similar application and gameplay state.
The current public version of Level Up does not create a Level Up cloud account and does not automatically create a Firebase Authentication guest account.
The current public version also does not read Health Connect data.
Because this information is primarily stored locally, we normally cannot access the contents of your tasks, your local progress, your inventory, or your complete local gameplay database from our systems.
3. INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE DIRECTLY TO US
If you contact us for support, privacy questions, bug reports, feedback, or other assistance, we may receive information that you voluntarily provide.
This may include:
• your email address;
• the content of your message;
• screenshots or attachments you choose to send;
• app or device information you voluntarily provide; and
• other information necessary to understand and respond to your request.
We may use this information to respond to you, investigate technical problems, handle privacy requests, prevent abuse, maintain appropriate support records, and comply with legal obligations.
4. FIREBASE PLATFORM SERVICES
Level Up uses limited Firebase services provided by Google.
These may include Firebase Remote Config, Firebase Installations, and Firebase App Check.
Firebase Remote Config
Remote Config allows Level Up to receive configuration values without requiring every configuration adjustment to be delivered through a new app version.
Firebase Remote Config uses a Firebase Installation ID to identify a particular installation of the app for purposes such as selecting and delivering configuration values.
A Firebase Installation ID identifies an installation of the app. It is not a Level Up user account.
Firebase App Check
Firebase App Check helps protect Firebase resources against unauthorized clients, abuse, and fraudulent access.
When Google Play Integrity is used as the attestation provider, App Check may process device or application integrity information and integrity tokens necessary to verify that requests originate from an authentic application environment.
Remote Config and App Check may operate independently of the optional Analytics and Crashlytics preference described below because they provide application configuration and security functions.
5. OPTIONAL ANALYTICS AND CRASH DIAGNOSTICS
Level Up can use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage and diagnose technical problems.
Optional Analytics and Crashlytics collection is disabled by Level Up unless you enable analytics and diagnostics in the app.
You can review or change this preference through:
Settings → Privacy & Legal
When enabled, Firebase Analytics may process information such as:
• app usage and interactions;
• analytics events generated by the app;
• application and device characteristics;
• installation or application identifiers; and
• related technical information.
Firebase Crashlytics may process information such as:
• crash reports;
• application state associated with a crash;
• stack traces and technical diagnostics;
• device and operating-system information; and
• information necessary to identify and troubleshoot application failures.
Level Up does not intentionally send the text of your tasks or your complete local gameplay database to Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics.
You may disable optional analytics and diagnostics again at any time.
Changing this preference affects future collection by Level Up, subject to information already processed or retained by Firebase in accordance with applicable law and Google's service practices.
6. REWARDED ADVERTISING
Level Up offers optional rewarded advertisements using Google Mobile Ads (AdMob).
Watching a rewarded advertisement is optional. The user chooses whether to watch an advertisement in exchange for an in-app reward.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect or share information including:
• IP address, which may be used to estimate the general location of a device;
• interactions with the app and advertisements, such as app launches, taps, and video views;
• diagnostic and performance information;
• Android Advertising ID, when available and permitted;
• App Set ID; and
• other device or account-related identifiers where applicable.
Google may process this information for purposes including advertising, ad delivery, advertising measurement, analytics, security, and fraud prevention.
Information transmitted by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is handled according to Google's applicable security and privacy practices.
Level Up does not intentionally provide the contents of your tasks or your complete local gameplay database to AdMob as advertising-targeting information.
7. ADVERTISING PRIVACY AND CONSENT CHOICES
Level Up uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to provide advertising privacy and consent choices where applicable.
Depending on your location, applicable law, and Google's available privacy messages, you may be able to:
• consent to or reject certain advertising-related processing;
• manage advertising vendors or purposes;
• opt out of certain forms of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; or
• modify previously selected advertising privacy choices.
Where Google indicates that privacy options are required, they can be accessed through:
Settings → Privacy & Legal → Rewarded-ad privacy choices
For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and jurisdictions covered by applicable U.S. state privacy messages, Google UMP may present additional privacy controls.
Rejecting personalized advertising or opting out of certain processing does not necessarily mean that no advertisements will be shown.
You may still receive contextual, non-personalized, limited, or otherwise permitted advertisements.
Level Up does not sell your locally stored tasks, progress, inventory, or complete gameplay database for money.
However, some privacy laws define terms such as "sale", "sharing", or "targeted advertising" more broadly than a direct exchange for money. Where applicable, advertising-related opt-out choices are provided through Google's privacy controls.
8. GOOGLE PLAY PURCHASES AND PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTIONS
Premium purchases and subscriptions are processed through Google Play Billing.
Payment processing is performed by Google.
Level Up does not receive your full payment-card information.
The app may receive limited purchase and entitlement information necessary to:
• activate Premium access;
• determine whether Premium access remains valid;
• restore purchases;
• process purchase status changes; and
• maintain limited local entitlement information for reliability and offline use.
Google Play may separately process transaction, payment, account, device, security, and other information under Google's own terms and privacy practices.
Cancelling or deleting Level Up data does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription.
Subscriptions must be managed or cancelled through Google Play.
9. NO LEVEL UP CLOUD ACCOUNT IN THE CURRENT PUBLIC VERSION
The current public version of Level Up does not allow users to create a Level Up cloud account.
Firebase Authentication account creation, Google account linking, automatic Firebase guest accounts, and public cloud social features are disabled for this release.
Normal Level Up gameplay therefore does not require a Level Up cloud account.
Some cloud-capable application code may exist for possible future functionality, but those account and cloud-social functions are not enabled for users of the current public version.
If Level Up introduces cloud accounts, cloud synchronization, or additional cloud social functionality in a future release, this Privacy Policy and applicable Google Play disclosures will be reviewed and updated before those features are publicly enabled.
10. HOW INFORMATION IS USED
Depending on the particular information and feature, information may be used to:
• operate and provide Level Up;
• save preferences and gameplay state locally;
• provide application configuration;
• protect the app and Firebase resources from abuse;
• provide optional rewarded advertising;
• measure and secure advertising;
• activate and restore Premium entitlements;
• diagnose crashes and technical problems when diagnostics are enabled;
• understand application usage when analytics are enabled;
• prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
• provide customer support;
• respond to privacy requests;
• comply with legal requirements; and
• establish, exercise, or defend legal rights where necessary.
11. LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING
Where applicable privacy law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, the appropriate basis depends on the particular processing activity.
Depending on the circumstances, we may rely on:
• your consent;
• performance of a contract or steps necessary to provide a service requested by you;
• compliance with a legal obligation;
• legitimate interests in operating, protecting, maintaining, and improving Level Up where those interests are not overridden by your rights; or
• another legal basis permitted by applicable law.
Optional Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics collection is controlled by your in-app privacy preference.
Advertising consent and opt-out choices are provided where applicable through Google UMP and other available Google controls.
12. SERVICE PROVIDERS AND DATA SHARING
Level Up does not operate a centralized commercial database containing your locally stored tasks and gameplay history.
Information may nevertheless be processed or shared with service providers when necessary to provide the functions described in this Privacy Policy.
The main third-party providers used by the current public version include:
Google Firebase
Used for functions such as Remote Config, Firebase Installations, App Check, optional Analytics, and optional Crashlytics.
Google Mobile Ads / AdMob
Used to provide optional rewarded advertising, advertising measurement, analytics, security, and fraud prevention.
Google Play
Used for application distribution, purchases, subscriptions, entitlement information, licensing, and related platform services.
Email service providers
If you contact us by email, the email services involved in delivering and storing the communication may process your email address, message, attachments, and related technical information.
Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law, legal process, court order, regulatory requirement, or where reasonably necessary to protect users, prevent fraud or abuse, protect security, or establish or defend legal rights.
13. INTERNATIONAL DATA PROCESSING AND TRANSFERS
Google and other service providers may process information in countries other than the country in which you live.
As a result, information processed by third-party services may be transferred internationally.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, such processing is subject to the contractual, technical, organizational, and other safeguards provided by the relevant service provider and required by applicable law.
You may contact us if you have questions about international processing associated with Level Up.
14. DATA RETENTION
Local Level Up data generally remains on your device until you:
• delete it using Level Up's available deletion controls;
• clear the application's storage through Android;
• uninstall the app; or
• otherwise remove the data through your device.
Device or operating-system backup functions may affect locally stored data independently of Level Up.
Support and privacy communications sent directly to us may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:
• respond to the request;
• maintain appropriate records;
• investigate security or abuse issues;
• comply with legal requirements; or
• establish or defend legal rights.
Information processed independently by Firebase, AdMob, Google Play, or other Google services is subject to the applicable product settings, Google's retention practices, user choices, and legal requirements.
We aim not to retain personal information under our direct control longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was processed.
15. SECURITY
Level Up is designed to reduce centralized collection of gameplay information by keeping most user-created gameplay and productivity data locally on the device.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information under our control.
Firebase App Check is used to help protect supported Firebase resources from unauthorized or abusive access.
Google services use their own technical and organizational security safeguards for information processed by their services.
No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
16. YOUR PRIVACY CONTROLS
Depending on the particular feature and your location, Level Up allows you to:
• enable or disable optional analytics and crash diagnostics;
• review available advertising privacy choices where required;
• choose whether to watch optional rewarded advertisements;
• delete locally stored Level Up information;
• manage or cancel Google Play subscriptions through Google Play; and
• contact us to exercise privacy rights provided by applicable law.
Changing a privacy preference normally affects future processing.
Information already lawfully processed may continue to be retained where required or permitted by applicable law.
17. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply, you may have rights regarding personal information relating to you.
These rights may include the right to:
• receive information about how personal information is processed;
• request access to personal information;
• request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
• request deletion or erasure in circumstances provided by law;
• request restriction or suspension of certain processing;
• object to certain processing;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• request information concerning recipients or sharing;
• request portability where applicable;
• opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, or sharing;
• request review of certain automated decisions where applicable;
• appeal certain privacy-request decisions where provided by law; and
• complain to an applicable privacy or data-protection authority.
These rights are not absolute and may be subject to conditions, exceptions, and verification requirements under applicable law.
Because the current public version of Level Up stores most gameplay information only on your device and does not create a Level Up cloud account, we may not possess or be able to identify much of your local gameplay information.
18. EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA, UNITED KINGDOM AND SWITZERLAND
If applicable European, UK, or Swiss data-protection law applies to you, you may have rights including:
• access;
• rectification;
• erasure;
• restriction of processing;
• objection;
• data portability; and
• withdrawal of consent.
Where processing is based on consent, withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.
You may also have the right to submit a complaint to the competent data-protection authority in your country or region.
19. UNITED STATES
Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional privacy rights.
Depending on the applicable state law, those rights may include:
• access;
• correction;
• deletion;
• portability; and
• the ability to opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, or sharing.
Where applicable to advertising in Level Up, available choices are provided through Google's U.S. state privacy messaging and privacy controls.
Level Up will not unlawfully discriminate against a user for exercising privacy rights protected by applicable law.
20. CANADA
Where Canadian privacy law applies, users may have rights to obtain information about personal information under our control, request access, request correction, and withdraw consent in applicable circumstances.
We seek to limit collection, use, disclosure, and retention of personal information under our control to purposes reasonably necessary for the functions described in this Privacy Policy.
Additional provincial privacy requirements may apply, including requirements applicable in Québec.
21. BRAZIL
Where Brazil's Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais (LGPD) applies, users may have rights provided by applicable Brazilian law.
Depending on the circumstances, these may include rights relating to:
• confirmation of processing;
• access;
• correction;
• deletion, anonymization, or blocking where applicable;
• information concerning sharing;
• portability where applicable;
• withdrawal of consent; and
• objection or other remedies provided by law.
Requests can be submitted using the privacy contact listed in this Policy.
22. OTHER COUNTRIES AND REGIONS
Users in countries including Mexico, Argentina, Japan, South Korea, India, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and other jurisdictions may have additional rights under applicable local privacy or data-protection laws.
Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to restrict mandatory privacy rights available to you under applicable law.
If you wish to exercise an applicable privacy right, contact us using the privacy email listed below.
Because Level Up is local-first, some information you may wish to access or delete may exist only on your own device and may not be available to us.
23. CHILDREN AND AGE REQUIREMENTS
Level Up is intended for adults aged 18 years and older.
The app is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18.
Level Up does not intentionally seek personal information from children.
If we become aware that information relating to a child has been provided directly to us or processed in circumstances that require action under applicable law, we will take appropriate steps.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information directly to us, please contact us.
24. DELETING LOCAL LEVEL UP DATA
Level Up provides a local-data deletion function through:
Settings → Privacy & Legal
The function is designed to delete Level Up's locally managed data, which may include:
• progress;
• tasks and task history;
• inventory;
• preferences;
• local backups;
• synchronization state;
• locally cached Premium information; and
• other locally stored Level Up state.
Deletion may be completed through the application's controlled startup or restart process so that stale information remaining in memory does not immediately recreate deleted data.
You may also delete application data through Android system settings or uninstall Level Up.
Deleting local Level Up data does not:
• cancel a Google Play subscription;
• automatically delete information previously processed by Google, Firebase, AdMob, or Google Play; or
• automatically delete information that a third-party provider is independently required or permitted to retain.
25. ACCOUNT DELETION
The current public version of Level Up does not create a Level Up cloud account.
Therefore, a user of the current public version does not have a Level Up cloud account that needs to be deleted.
If account creation is introduced in a future release, Level Up will implement an appropriate account-deletion process and update this Privacy Policy and applicable Google Play disclosures before that functionality is publicly enabled.
26. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Google services used by Level Up are also governed by Google's applicable privacy policies, product terms, data-processing terms, and privacy controls.
These services include, where applicable:
• Firebase;
• Google Mobile Ads / AdMob;
• Google Play; and
• Google Play Billing.
Users may review Google's privacy and product documentation directly through Google's official websites.
Third-party services and their data practices may change over time.
We will review and update this Privacy Policy where a material change affects how Level Up processes information.
27. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy when Level Up changes its:
• functionality;
• third-party services;
• data practices;
• advertising implementation;
• account model;
• legal obligations; or
• privacy controls.
The effective date or last-updated date at the beginning of this Policy will be changed when appropriate.
Where required by applicable law, material changes will be communicated through the app or another appropriate method.
