Matthias Leu: Received his Ph.D in 2000 from the University of Washington in Wildlife Management and Conservation. Between 2001 - 2002 he completed a one-year post in Dr. Marzluff's lab investigating the effects of campgrounds on the distribution on songbird nest predators. He then moved to Dr. Steve Knick;s lab for another one-year postdoc with NRC where studied the large-scale effect of human actions of ecological processes in the shrub-steppe ecosystem. He continued this work as an ecologist with the USGS for another seven year. In 2009 he was offered a position in Conservation Biology in the Biology Department at William & Mary.
