Professor Szalai will talk about; how populist anti-immigration campaigns are remarkably similar in their vocabulary and structure, and how, through such “crisis talk”, populists seek to maintain social control and enable democratic backsliding.

Topic: “Creating Connections: a participatory workshop”
Our workshop aims to bring students together to explore how building connections can strengthen our sense of community and shared learning. At university, we often meet within formal settings, yet rarely have the chance to get to know each other beyond our roles and disciplines. These connections matter: they help us support one another, exchange perspectives, and make our studies more collaborative and inspiring. Using creative, drama-based methods, we will explore how different perspectives, disciplines and experiences can meet and enrich each other. No acting skills or prior experience are needed – drama is only a tool for discovery.
