According to the World Bank, 6.7 million Haitians live without electricity their entire lives and over 1 billion worldwide. The recent earthquake in Haiti has now increased the number many times, and people whose homes are still standing can not go back inside for fear of collapse. Children and babies breathe toxic smoke from kerosene or diesel fuel in Coca-Cola bottles with a cloth wick sticking out of the top. This is like smoking 4 packs of cigarettes per day. 1.5 million people in the world die PER YEAR from burning in their sleep when these bottles get too hot and break or fall over. Please go to LightUpHaiti.com to help provide a hand-powered survival generator that needs no fuel or solar power. We are providing these to women in Haiti who make $1 per day. With these generators, they can make $20-$40 per day by charging other phones. $1 per day gets paid forward, so 2 more women get generators/jobs. Please help us spread the word on and off of Facebook. When you or your friends buy 1 we can provide 1 for Haiti. This survival generator is great for backup power in emergencies or for camping. If you can’t buy one, please make a one-time or monthly donation. This campaign was started on August 22, the 230th anniversary of the Haitian Revolution. The Revolution led Haiti to become the second free republic in the world. We are creating an electrical revolution! Please help us “Power Up Haiti”!
