How does Lessa work?

Lessa scans your Apple Photos library and identifies groups of duplicate or similar photos.

You can review each group, select photos for deletion, and confirm the deletion through Apple's Photos system.

Does Lessa upload my photos?

No. Lessa is designed to process your photos on your device.

Your photos are not uploaded to a Lessa server for similarity analysis.

Why does Lessa need access to my Photos?

Lessa needs permission to access your Photos library so it can scan photos and identify similar images.

You control this permission through Apple's privacy settings.

Does Lessa work with iCloud Photos?

Yes. Lessa can work with photos in your Apple Photos library, including iCloud Photos, subject to Apple's Photos permissions and the state of your library.

What is Shared Library?

If you use Apple's Shared Library, Lessa can include photos available through your Photos library permissions.

What is Smart Select?

Smart Select recommends a photo to keep from each group and selects the other similar photos for deletion.

Always review Smart Select's selections before deleting.

Does Lessa delete photos immediately?

When you choose to delete photos, Lessa asks you to confirm your selection.

Apple's Photos system controls the actual deletion of photos.

Deleted photos may be moved to Apple's Recently Deleted area according to Apple's Photos behavior.

Can I undo a deletion?

Photo deletion and recovery are handled by Apple's Photos app and its Recently Deleted feature.

If you accidentally delete a photo, check Photos → Recently Deleted as soon as possible.

Lessa isn't finding my photos

Please check:

1. Lessa has permission to access your Photos.

2. The photos you want to scan are available in your Photos library.

3. Your device has sufficient available storage.

4. Lessa is running the latest version.

5. Try running another scan.

If the problem continues, contact support.

Lessa isn't finding similar photos

Similarity detection depends on the contents and quality of your photos.

Try changing the Similarity setting and running another scan.

Can I stop a scan?

Yes. Use Stop Scan to stop the current scan.

If you choose Cancel, the current scan can be cancelled without continuing to the results.
