What is Boxed Scoring?

The 6 different judges make audio comments for us as they watch you. They watch What you are doing and how well you are doing. When they are done watching and talking, they assign you a number that fits inside of one of the boxes in his/her caption based on which box best describes us. This is called RATING THE BAND.

After RATE you, they decide if you were better or worse than other bands they have seen at that show within that same box. This is called RANKING.

For example: Both Le Roy and Northwestern may perform the Field Visual caption and best be described by the words in BOX 3. Both would receive a score in that caption between 65 and 83. If the judge believes Northwestern still looked a little bit better than Le Roy, they would get a higher number in that box than we do.

If, on the other hand, the judge can best describe us as box 4 and Northwestern as box 3, there score for that caption could never be above 83 and ours could never be below 84!
