Prospective students:
Research in the Lerman Lab requires individuals who have a strong work ethic are creative and indepedent learners.
We seek out individuals with a background in machine and deep learning, electrical engineering, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, neurosciences, medical devices, materials science, and molecular biology, who are passionate about research in neurotechnology.

We are always looking for talented individuals in the following positions:
Undergraduate students: either as a part-time research volunteer during the school year, ECE 199 credit, or full time during the summer. A GPA greater 3.5 is typical, prior research experience and publications are weighted highly.
We are actively recruiting graduate students: M.S. and Ph.D. levels for ECE, and Bioengineering.

PhD Position in Lerman Lab [Electrical and Computer Engineering /Bioengineering]
About the Position
We are excited to announce the availability of a Ph.D. position in wearable technology, neural engineering, physiological signal processing, and machine learning in health-related studies within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering/Bioengineering at UC San Diego. This opportunity is aimed at ambitious and highly motivated candidates to pursue a career in cutting-edge research at the intersection of engineering, medical device technology, healthcare, and artificial intelligence.
Research Focus
First the selected candidate will be involved in processing various physiological signals such as EEG/EGG/ENG/MEG in human studies. Second, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) data analyses will completed aimed at building AI/ML methods to detect systemic inflammation at an early stage. The ultimate goal is to transition the technology into the human clinical environment. Funding is available for this position.
Responsibilities
Conduct original research within the scope of the project.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and professionals.
Present findings at national and international conferences.
Publish work in high-impact journals.
Assist in the supervision of undergraduate and master's students
Qualifications
A master's/undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a closely related field.
Strong background in signal processing and machine learning algorithms.
Proficiency in MATLAB and Python.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Prior research experience is highly desirable.
Full commitment to the lab is required.
