Bieber: "The biggest challenge was honestly not chipping away at each piece too much. I’m someone who is a perfectionist, and I think I can fall into the trap of chipping away at something hoping to make it even better each time."
Bieber: "I don't see myself as famous; I see myself as a normal person with a job that is not very normal. My work life is very out there and very public. But I do my best to maintain my privacy."
Bieber: "I feel like if you flip through my Instagram, you'll kind of see the same angles and poses every time. That's the trick to having people love your Instagram selfies. It's all about your angles."
Bieber: "I am a crazy perfectionist and I've had to accept the fact that there is no such thing as a perfect launch that doesn't have its bumps or mishaps."
Bieber: “I get photographed so much that I feel like sometimes I put pressure on myself.”
Bieber: "I was extremely hands on about the fit of each piece, how it hangs, and how it wears. I’m extremely picky about the way things fit in general, so with these pieces I was over-the-top specific about the dimensions of each one."
Bieber: "I love making shorts out of jeans, or customizing denim. Basically, I like to rip and distress things... I love that look."
Bieber: "All my tattoos except my first were not planned. I would just go into the shop late at night with friends and ask for something on the spot. My first is my parents' wedding date. I thought it would soften the blow of getting a tattoo."
Bieber: "My thoughts, my decisions, my past had tormented me."
Bieber: "I had to trust my gut to know when something was finished and it was perfect, and not try to constantly push and push and keep striving to make it somehow better. When you get into that pattern, you can actually ruin something that was already great."
Bieber: "My style kind of differs - sometimes I want to be a little dressed down, a little tomboy, sometimes I want to be dressed up and very chic and look proper. But I don't ever believe in overdoing it for day-to-day style."
[On her skincare brand, Rhode]
Bieber: "This has been the biggest learning process for me and what I'm learning is that mistakes are really a part of the process and you have to accept those mistakes and be able to learn from them so that you can actually improve your brand and help drive it forward."
Bieber: "I love Rihanna. I think her style just pushes a lot of boundaries. My tomboy side takes inspiration from her."
Bieber: "I think for a while, I didn't understand that. For me, it was just this process of understanding, I don't have to sit around and feel, 'Omg this one time when I was 20, I made a mistake... I wish I hadn't done that. Jesus would be more proud of me if I hadn't.'"
Bieber: "For me, I like to be a little bit tomboy but still look like a lady. Pretty tough. Or really, really, really pretty."
Bieber: "I think our mistakes actually help make us better as people when we choose to learn from them and I think when you have a brand, it helps you create an even better brand."
Bieber: "I wasn't bullied by the mean girls in high school. I'm just bullied by adults and teenagers all over the world."
[On her husband, Justin Bieber]
Bieber: "At the end of the day, like, he’s my best friend, but it still does take a lot of work to make it work. And then I know eventually, when kids come in the picture, that’s going to be a whole other season of navigating how to make that work."
Bieber: "I definitely would not do a reality show."
Bieber: "Sometimes I Google myself just to see what people are saying. But we all do that. If someone tells you that they don't, then they are lying."
Bieber: "I genuinely do think that skin does have a lot to do with genetics. I was blessed. You should see my mom and grandma - it's unfair!"
Bieber: "I think if I was going to be someone for a day, I would want to be a performer, someone big, like Rihanna. I'd want to feel the energy of being on stage. I've always found that very interesting."
Bieber: "I wouldn't ever pose naked... I'm fine to do bikinis and certainly lingerie if I feel it's done tastefully... cute like Victoria's Secret, but nothing like raunchy or overly sexual."
Bieber: "Acting is in my family. My cousins, my sister, and I always say it's a legacy that should be kept alive. In the future, it's something I really want."
[On his wife, Hailey Bieber]
Justin Bieber: "Hailey’s very logical and structured, which I need. I’ve always wanted security—with my dad being gone sometimes when I was a kid, with being on the road. With the lifestyle I live, everything is so uncertain. I need one thing that’s certain. And that is my baby boo."
Harpers Bazaar: Her style is not the effort of a well-assembled team but the joyful expression of a true clotheshorse who peruses the men’s department (that’s how she discovered Rose) and scrolls sites like Ssense.
Harpers Bazaar: Though Bieber’s looks are hypercontemporary, her approach is ultra old-school. She dreams up different “vibes” (to use her favorite word) for trips and events, whether it’s a vacation in the Northwest or a friend’s wedding. Her process is true fashion-icon behavior.
Harpers Bazaar: In part, it’s her own perfectionism. “Even if I’m just throwing on jeans and a T-shirt, I want it to be a dope pair of jeans and a great T-shirt!”
Harpers Bazaar: Bieber always puts in the effort—in fashion and romance.
Harpers Bazaar: She also addressed her own sense of fashion, saying she feels pressure to really dress up whenever paparazzi are around, in part because of her own perfectionism.
