Rihanna: "I take risks because I get bored. And I get bored very easily." 

Rihanna: "I do fashion one day, lingerie the next, beauty the next, then music the next. It’s like having a bunch of kids and you need to take care of them all."

Rihanna: "I play by my own rules so please think twice before you step into my life."

Rihanna: "I hate going to the gym and doing it the old-fashioned way. I hate anything that's too straightforward, too routine, too familiar. I get bored really, really quickly."

Rihanna: "I think love is one of the purest things you can sing about. One of the best things you can sing about."

Rihanna: "I’m very picky about friends. I don’t like to open myself up to everyone and so when you find people who are great and loyal, you don’t want to let go of that. I’ve been out here on my own since I was a teenager, so these people become like your family."

Rihanna: "People don't know that I'm shy. People read me as being confident. But I'm so shy I don't even want you to know I'm shy."

Rihanna: "People think, because we're young, we aren't complex, but that's not true. We deal with life and love and broken hearts in the same way a woman a few years older might."

Rihanna: "I'm really looking forward to seeing what life brings to me." 

Rihanna: "I don't have time to be lonely. And I get fearful of relationships because I feel guilty about wanting someone to be completely faithful and loyal, when I can't even give them 10 percent of the attention that they need. It's just the reality of my time, my life, my schedule."

Rihanna: "I never eat salad. I make sure I don't put a lot of junk into my system, but I hate vegetables!"

Rihanna: "I think women want freedom, they want to be empowered, they want hope, they want love, they want all the things that I want and I’m not afraid to say those things and act on them, and I think that’s why they identify with me. Women want to be fearless and sometimes all it takes is to see that it’s possible."

Rihanna: "If someone is right for you, you'll know it."

Rihanna: "I love reading people. I really enjoy watching, observing, and being able to figure out a person, the reason they wore that dress, the reason they smell the way they do."

Rihanna: "I got teased my entire school life. What they were picking on I don't even understand."

Rihanna: "It’s all about honesty. This is not failure, it’s lessons. It’s not the end. If you learn from mistakes it’s not failure. If you go and do the exact same f*cking thing then that’s the stupidest thing ever and it probably won’t work the second time."

Rihanna: "Single life is so overrated."

Rihanna: "If I cry, it's because I'm very angry and I can't do anything about it because I've run into a dead end. That's when the tears would come down."

Rihanna: "I'm crazy and I don't pretend to be anything else."

Rihanna: "I'm turned on by guys who are cultured. That'll keep me intrigued. They don't have to have a single degree, but they should speak other languages or know things about other parts of the world or history or certain artists or musicians. I like to be taught. I like to sit on that side of the table."

Rihanna: "Be a girl with a mind, a b*tch with an attitude, a lady with class."

Rihanna: "I think design is a part of being creative. I enjoy creating and expressing the crazy things going on in my mind through something that people can see and that is tangible."

Rihanna: "I don't do things for the response or for the controversy. I just live my life."

Rihanna: "Every single day I just do me. I am myself. Fashion and make up can make you feel confident for sure, just make sure you are doing it to make you feel good and aren’t trying to impress anybody else. I do like to take risks – I think a big part of fashion is about taking risks – but it’s not to get a reaction or cause controversy, it’s because I like what I am wearing."

Rihanna: "It’s tougher to be vulnerable than to actually be tough."

Rihanna: "You don't want to live your life and then meet someone. You want to share your life with someone. That's what I'm missing right now."

Rihanna: "I was so rude when I was a little girl."

Rihanna: "I feel like I'm being watched. Always. Like, I want to tan topless somewhere, and I know I probably could never do that. Even if I'm upstairs in my bedroom, and the curtains are pulled, I feel like a paparazzo's outside on a boat somewhere, or somebody's peeping."

Rihanna: "I am a child but I have to think and act like a woman, this business forces you to."

Rihanna: "Whatever I'm feeling, whatever I'm going through, whatever mood I'm in... If I'm feeling like dancing or clubbing, then it will be reflected in the music. If I'm feeling dark and vulnerable, then it will reflect in the music, too."

Rihanna: "When I see myself as an old woman, I just think about being happy. And hopefully, I’ll still be fly."

Rihanna: “I’ve always had pretty tough skin—even as a little girl, which was completely due to my parents. They never sheltered me in any way. They would tease me, and I would tease them right back. By the time I got to school, I always had this feeling like the kids were stupid. Maybe that was god’s way of preparing me for what my life was going to be like.”

Rihanna: "The way I dress depends on how I feel. I never have to psych myself up. Usually it just feels like it works."

Rihanna: "There's a long way to fall when you pretend that you're so far away from the earth, far away from reality, floating in a bubble that's protected by fame or success. It's scary, and it's the thing I fear the most: to be swallowed up by that bubble. It can be poison to you, fame."

Rihanna: "You may never be good enough for everybody, but you will always be the best for somebody."

Rihanna: "I used to feel unsafe right in the moment of an accomplishment - I felt the ground fall from under my feet because this could be the end. And even now, while everyone is celebrating, I'm on to the next thing. I don't want to get lost in this big cushion of success."

Rihanna: "I'd love to date somebody cool, fun, funny."

Rihanna: "I'm not generally a sensitive person, but I tend to be sensitive towards others and what they're going through. I don't know if it's the healthiest thing, but it's the truth."

Rihanna: "Keep your eyes on the finish line and not on the turmoil around you."

Rihanna: “I don’t want my albums to feel like themes. There are no rules. There’s no format. There’s just good music, and if I feel it, I’m putting it out.”

Rihanna: "Fashion has always been my defense mechanism."

Rihanna: "I first met him when he was interviewing me on television. I was sick and it was the worst interview I have ever done... Nothing was funny to me. I thought it was the most stupid interview I ever did in my life. Why am I talking to this idiot? He made me want to throw up again."

Rihanna: "When it comes to fashion, I like to see individuality."

Rihanna: "I do have a vulnerable side. I think a lot of people have a misperception of me. They only see the tough, defensive, aggressive side. But every woman is vulnerable."

Rihanna: "Guys need attention. They need that nourishment, that little stroke of the ego that gets them by every now and then."

Rihanna: "I don't like cream puff, corny guys. Usually, they are the nice guys, the ones who won't hurt you. They'll pull out a chair for you and the whole nine yards. Everything is perfect and boring."

Rihanna: “When I was fourteen and first started going out, I always wanted to be the opposite of everyone else. So I would go to the club in a polo T-shirt and pants and sneakers and a hat on backward, just so I would not be dressed like other girls.”

Rihanna: "If you're performing music that is not who you are or where you're at, it is painful. It's painful for the performer and for the audience."

Rihanna: "At times I won’t be rebellious or edgy, sometimes it’ll be vulnerable and really innocent but you don’t know what bad things that girl might do to get to the vulnerable state! Sometimes bad girls are tired of bad sh*t."

Rihanna: "I don’t do things for the response or the controversy. I just live my life."

Rihanna: "I had one dream and that was for my music to be heard all over the world. I didn’t even think about the fame part, and then that came, and I was like, 'Oh, shoot. Do I really want to do this?' But the thing that keeps me alive and passionate is being creative."

Rihanna: "Wear the clothes. Don't let them wear you."

Rihanna: "My musical taste and image is going to change naturally. It's not forced; I do what comes naturally to me. Sometimes, I like to be dark... other times I like to be really light and ladylike."

Rihanna: "I could never identify with that word, 'weak.'"

Rihanna: "When you realize who you live for, and who's important to please, a lot of people will actually start living. I am never going to get caught up in that. I'm gonna look back on my life and say that I enjoyed it - and I lived it for me." 

Rihanna: "If you don't live your life, then who will?" 

Rihanna: "When I am putting looks together, I dare myself to make something work. I always look for the most interesting silhouette or something that's a little off, but I have to figure it out. I have to make it me. I think that's the thrill in fashion." 

Rihanna: "I can compensate for all of my weaknesses with my fashion."

Rihanna: "I think I'm like most people - we fear the unknown and the things that have yet to come to pass, which are the very things that don't deserve to be feared. When you give God complete control, it's very hard not to be fearless."

Rihanna: "My body is weird. I wake up when the sun comes up, and it's hard for me to go to sleep. My thoughts just take over."

Rihanna: "Everybody has an opinion about everything. But an opinion is just an opinion – I can only respect it but I can’t do anything to change their minds or to change the way I feel. Nothing is going to change because of their opinion. Everybody wanted to know what was happening in my life. Is she a drug addict? No. Is she an alcoholic? No. Is she a victim? No. That’s when I got the gun. It was a symbol of strength – it was 'I’ll never be a victim!'"

Rihanna: “I stand up for what I believe in, and a lot of the time that can be against people’s opinions.”
