GRADE 1 - Reading Instructional Text
After a circle-time read-aloud of Making Pizza, students worked together to identify the ingredients and materials featured in the book.
Next, students used an ingredient list to “shop” for materials. Then they followed a three-step recipe to create their own paper pizza. When they were finished, they used PMC to explain or retell the procedure.
IEP goals:
Given 5 literal questions (who, what, where) immediately following a read aloud, students will select the correct answer from a field of 3.
Given a set of four pictures immediately following a read aloud of a familiar text, students will order the pictures correctly and use the transition words first, next, then, and finally to retell the story.
Students will identify picture/word cards of 5 familiar objects in a field.
NYS reading standards: 1R5: Explain major differences between literary texts and informational texts. 1R6: Describe how illustrations and details support the purpose of the text. 1R9 Make connections between self and text
