Calling all creative minds of Normangee 4-H and FFA! It's time to showcase your talent behind the lens in our annual NJLS photo contest. Here are the details:
· Participation: Open to all registered members of Normangee 4-H or FFA.
· Divisions: Clover Kids (K-2nd); Junior (3rd-5th); Intermediate (6th-8th); and Senior (9th-12th)
· Photo Eligibility: Capture your moments between January 1, 2025, and the time of entry.
· Photo Size: Entries should be printed as 8 x 10 photos. No frames, please.
· Entry Method: Submit your photos by Monday, April 6, 2026 by 3:30pm to Mrs. Miller- Alternatively, you can drop them off at school to Mrs. Miller or to the FFA Advisors or to Leon County Extension Office.
· Original Work: Your entries must be your original creations. No photos taken by family members or sourced from other sources allowed. Any such entries will be disqualified.
· Awards: Each age division will have an overall Best of Show. Additionally, each age division and category will receive ribbons and be displayed at the livestock show. Best of Show winners must attend the auction on Saturday, April 11th to receive their banners!
· Display: By participating, you grant permission for your photos to be displayed at the NJLS, as well as on social media and/or in newspapers.
· Categories for 2026: You may submit only one photo per category (up to 5 photos total). On the back put your name, grade and category.
· Animals (Domestic or Wildlife)
· Food
· Landscape & nature (Non-Animal)
· People
· Catch All (for anything that doesn't fit elsewhere)

The Texas 4-H Photography Ambassadors are hosting an Amateur Photography Contest Fundraiser for the International 4-H Photography Trip.
This contest is open to everyone (both 4-H AND non-4-H) with two age divisions: Youth (high school and under – no minimum age required) and Adult (anyone no longer in high school).
There are 4 classes:
Animals (wild or domestic)
People (groups or single, any age)
Nature & Landscape (includes plants)
Catch-All
Timeframe: The contest is open Feb 1-28. Judging will follow with results by the end of March at the latest. The applicants will first click on the link: https://tinyurl.com/tx4hphoto25 and pay for the amount of photos they want to enter. Then, they will click on the information link that will guide them in how to create a submittable account and upload the photos. There is NO LIMIT to the number of entries submitted in each class. Prizes: $200 First place (EACH class in EACH age division), $100 Second place, $50 Third place, Rosette for Best of Show in each age division.

Camera time! In the 4-H photography project you will learn to use cameras, lighting, and other photography equipment to get great shots. You’ll learn to review and evaluate photos for quality and appearance. You will learn about techniques in editing and developing photographs for display, competition, or personal enjoyment.
You can attend state-wide photography workshops throughout the year. Workshops may cover topics such as photography careers or features hands on photography practice while taking photos of animals and horsemanship activities.
You’ll learn how to:
take photos using a tripod
utilize different lighting
take photos of people, locations, and animals
use shutter speeds
tell a story with your photos
Open to any Leon County/Tri-County Area YOUTH (Do NOT have to be a member of 4-H to compete!)
