I am a fourth year PhD student in Linguistics at the University of Cambridge.
My main research area is generative syntax. My doctoral project (funded by the AHRC and the Cambridge Trust) focuses on the syntax of non-active constructions, including passives (the apple was eaten), middles (these books read easily) and tough-constructions (these books are tough to read) in Italian, the dialects of Italy, other Romance languages, and some Balkan languages. I am particularly interested in the relationship between Voice and clausal complementation. My thesis (submitted in June 2026) is entitled: Voice and clause size: from passives to tough-constructions.
Before starting my PhD, I received an MA in Linguistics and Cognitive Studies from the University of Siena in 2022 and a BSc in Economics from the University of Pisa (with an Honours' Diploma from the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies) in 2020.
I am also the treasurer of the Cambridge University Linguistics Society, a member of the Romance Linguistics Circle organising committee, and a member of the Student Organisation of Linguistics in Europe editorial board.
