(I'm also confused about the workflow. One would think you'd provide the config file during install, not after. How does the dock know to provision? Restarting the service? Next time the dock is connected? A filesystem watcher?)

Streamlined Dock Management: Break free from the old docking paradigm and streamline your management workflow with a range of time-saving innovations. With the ThinkPad Universal USB-C Smart Dock, you can remotely update its firmware without a connected PC, remotely manage ports, conduct data analytics, utilize diagnostic tools, and keep your system safe with Microsoft Azure Sphere security solution

our client hardware department is ordering a lot of the new ThinkPad Universal USB-C Smart Docks which seems to bring a couple of problems with them regarding ISE / 802.1x.

These smart docks have a Microsoft Azure Sphere connection build in to be able to update firmware and doing maintenance without having a client connected to the dock. To accomplish this the docks have a burned in IoT MAC on the ethernet interface (and also a Wi-Fi interface for the same reason but this is out of scope in the moment).

We are using authentication host-mode multi-domain on our ports and now run into trouble when a notebook is connected to the dock as we are seeing the burned in IoT MAC from the dock itself and the MAC from the notebook (via pass-through) at the same time.

If we must bring the IoT interface online to enable firmware upgrades and doing maintenance without having a client connected to the dock, how about dynamic VLAN assignment? Even if we would allow the IoT MAC to connect to the same client VLAN as the client behind the dock, there is more than one client VLAN at a location.

As far as I know and regarding the docs I have read, there is no way to have multiple clients behind the same physical port to be in different VLAN?

With the newer switch series like the WS-C3650-24PS with version 03.06.09E or C9300L-24P-4G with version 17.09.03 there is no NAC process loop and no flooding with syslog messages. If you connect the docking station to the switch while the notebook is already attached to the docking station, the notebook can authenticate and get access to the network, while the docking station itself is blocked. If you connect the docking station to the switch while NOT having the notebook attached and connect the notebook later (> 30 sec) the docking station can authenticate and get access to the network, while the notebook itself is blocked.

The above response is not helpful at all - as of now you can play music through the Apple Music app on the actual Lenovo Smart Tab M10 FHD Plus and it will connect to the smart dock but you cannot play/navigate Apple Music through Alexa - so essentially when it comes to Apple Music, the smart dock only functions as a Bluetooth speaker

1.Open the stability support.2.Plug the power adaptor into the dock and then into a power outlet.

3. Place your tablet in the dock.

Make sure to correctly align the smart connector on the dock with the smart connector on the tablet. The tablet will vibrate and the display will change when docked correctly.

The monitors only have DVI and VGA so there is not HDMI to connect into. The docking station only has the DVI and Display Port on it. The issue does also happen when a monitor or projector is connected to the VGA of the laptop.

M/Connect 2's innovative split dock technology allows all cables to be connected under the desk and off the work surface, which limits accessibility to connections the user doesn't require. An easily accessible hub on the desk provides the user with immediate access to data, charging and audio ports.

Security upon disconnect is offered through a timed departure: after the notebook is lifted from the dock, the connections are dropped, clearing the screens of any sensitive data, and returning all open windows to the notebook screen.

2021 is seeing refreshes for both Nest and Lenovo's smallest smart displays. The Nest Hub (2nd Gen) retains much of the original Nest Hub was about and makes a few tweaks by adding Sleep Sensing and an improved speaker. Lenovo did much of the same but keeping the same 4-inch display but changed the speaker focus and added some Pogo pins on the bottom for a dock. This dock adds a helpful nightlight and wireless charging pad to the Smart Clock 2. The first generations of these speakers were some of the best smart displays, and with both in the $100 price range, it's time to see what happens when we pit the Nest Hub vs. Lenovo Smart Clock 2.

While the Lenovo Smart Clock 2 will connect to Google Photos just like the Nest Hub will, the quality isn't the same. Though we are still waiting on a release date for this smart display, it does use the same 4-inch panel as the first-gen Smart Clock. Although I put an original Smart Clock in each of my kid's rooms to see pictures and play music, my young kids even noticed the drop in quality over the Nest Hub.

Should you have smart home devices connected to your Google Assistant, you can control them with your voice through the Nest Hub and Smart Clock 2. But if you prefer to have a visual of your smart home devices and control them with touch, only the Nest Hub will be able to handle those tasks.

No, you can also use the Smart Kitchen Dock without Home Connect appliances. To find new recipes, for example. However, to unlock its full potential, it is recommended to connect to at least one smart home appliance.
