Current Luther College art and visual communication student L'Engle Charis-Carlson has been sharpening her skills in painting, printmaking, and drawing for much of her life. Her start in the creative community of Iowa City, Iowa, greatly emphasized the importance of the arts. Through her work, L'Engle investigates themes of identity, nostalgia, and belonging through various media. Her time at Luther has helped to develop her technical abilities, proficiency in new mediums, and artistic voice. Using her double major, L'Engle hopes to blend the fine and commercial art worlds and create personal work that effectively communicates across diverse backgrounds.
