Macro, Money and Finance Reading Group
Information
Details:
The group is run by Moritz Lenel and Jonathan Payne at Princeton University.
The group meets on Tuesday in room 102 from 6.10 to 7.10pm. The first meeting for the Spring 2023 semester will be held on Tuesday 7th February.
Papers must be submitted (here) by 2pm on Thursday.
Rules:
To attend the reading group you must submit a paper. There is no representation without taxation.
Regular attendance is the norm.
Unless otherwise instructed, every week each student submits a paper of their choice (here). Please submit a paper that you think is good. Jonathan and Moritz reserve the right to veto a paper that they think is not suitable -- after such a veto, you will be asked to submit an alternative.
From the submitted papers, Jonathan and Moritz will choose 0-3 to be given as 20-minute presentations (by those who submitted them).
20 minute presenters should prepare slides. The maximum number of slides allowed in a presentation is 10.
20 minute presenters will be known by noon on TBD so that they have time to prepare.
Students whose submissions are not chosen for 20 minute presentations are exposed to being called upon for a 5 minute presentation (no slides) during the reading group meeting.
All participants are expected to be in command of the papers.
Students may not submit a paper that has already been called upon for a 20 minute presentation in the current semester. However, they may submit a paper that has already been called upon for a 5 minute presentation.
If there is a relevant seminar speaker, then we may discuss their paper together rather than running the regular reading group.
We encourage students to bring papers from recent job market candidates for the first couple of weeks of the semester.
Papers:
Suitable papers should fit broadly into the title theme of the reading group, namely study macro, money and/or finance. However, we are happy to take a broad interpretation of macro, money and/or finance. We would like students to bring papers that they are interested in.
Acknowledgements:
We would like to thank Ziang Li and Narek Alexanian for all their hard work uploading presentations to the website.
