If you want a lightweight, versatile transmitter that pairs two headphones for gym workouts and travel with zero fuss, choose LENDAWAY 5.4; if you need premium audio fidelity, long-haul battery life, and specific codec support for high-end earbuds on flights, choose Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr.
• LENDWAY 5.4: Its greatest strength is its ultra-lightweight design and dual-link capability for simultaneous pairing, making it perfect for shared listening sessions; however, it lacks advanced audio codecs like aptX, which limits sound quality for audiophiles.
• Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr: It excels with a robust 25-hour battery life, metal construction, and Qualcomm chipset support for high-resolution audio streaming; the trade-off is its slightly larger form factor and focus strictly on flight and home entertainment rather than general portable versatility.
• Who picks LENDAWAY: The user who prioritizes portability, needs to share audio between two people instantly, and wants a simple device for the gym or short trips without worrying about complex settings.
• Who picks Avantree: The traveler or audiophile who demands all-day battery power, cares deeply about low-latency and high-fidelity sound over Bluetooth, and frequently uses noise-canceling headphones like AirPods or Bose during long flights.
The LENDAWAY 5.4 is designed for the person who values simplicity and immediate utility above all else. At just 0.07 kg, this device feels almost weightless in your pocket or bag. This isn't just a marketing number; it translates to real-world convenience. You can toss it into a small gym bag alongside your water bottle and towel without adding any noticeable bulk. The glossy black finish gives it a sleek, modern look that blends in easily whether you are sitting in an airport lounge or at a desk. It is not built to be rugged or industrial; it is built to be unobtrusive and ready to go the moment you plug it in.
What really sets this unit apart for active users is its ability to pair two wireless headphones simultaneously via Dual Link technology. If you and a friend are working out together at the gym, or if you are sharing a movie on a tablet with a partner while traveling, you don't need to pass one set of earbuds back and forth. You can both connect your own devices and listen to the exact same audio stream at the same time. This feature is particularly valuable for parents keeping kids entertained with a single source or couples wanting to enjoy a flight together without fighting over one pair of headphones. The setup is straightforward, relying on a standard 3.5mm AUX input, which means it works with almost any analog audio output found on older car stereos, home theater systems, or even some gym equipment.
However, there are limitations you must accept before buying. The device relies on a lithium-ion battery with an energy content of 1.11 watt-hours, which is decent but not industry-leading for marathon listening sessions. More importantly, it does not support advanced audio compression standards like aptX or aptX HD. This means if you have high-end headphones capable of decoding lossless or near-lossless audio, this transmitter will likely downsample the signal to standard SBC or AAC. For casual listening, podcasts, or background music at the gym, this won't matter much. But if you are a critical listener who notices every nuance in the bass or treble, this device might feel like a bottleneck. It is a functional tool for connectivity, not a high-fidelity audio upgrade station.
This product is ideal for the commuter who needs a reliable bridge between their phone or laptop and their existing Bluetooth headphones. It handles hands-free calling well, thanks to the built-in microphone, making it a solid choice for those who take calls while driving or walking. The fact that it supports a wide range of compatible devices—from smartphones and tablets to laptops and even in-flight entertainment systems—makes it a Swiss Army knife for audio connections. Just remember that it is a transmitter only; it takes audio from a wired source and sends it wirelessly. It is not designed to receive audio from a TV and send it to speakers. Keep that distinction clear when setting up your system.

The Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr is engineered for the serious traveler and the audio enthusiast who refuses to compromise on battery life or sound quality. With a build featuring a metal enclosure and a sky blue color option, this device projects a sense of durability and premium engineering that the plastic-heavy alternatives often lack. The inclusion of a Qualcomm chipset is the headline feature here. This chip enables support for aptX Adaptive and aptX HD codecs, which dynamically adjust bitrate and latency based on the content and connection stability. For someone using high-performance earbuds like AirPods Pro or Sony WF series, this ensures that the audio remains crisp and synchronized with video, eliminating the lag that often plagues cheaper Bluetooth adapters.
The most compelling argument for the R1-25Hr is its battery performance. The datasheet specifies an impressive 25 hours of playtime on a single charge. This is not just a number for spec sheets; it is a game-changer for international travel. You can fly across continents, sleep overnight, and still have juice left for the return journey without needing to find a USB-C port to recharge mid-flight. Furthermore, the device supports USB-C pass-through charging. This means you can plug it into an airplane seat's USB port or your own power bank and keep listening continuously while the internal battery charges. There is no interruption to your movie or podcast. This level of endurance is something the smaller competitors simply cannot match due to their smaller battery capacity of 0.79 watt-hours.
Avantree has clearly positioned this product as a specialist tool for aviation and high-end home use. The package includes a dedicated dual-prong airline adapter, ensuring compatibility with the various types of headphone jacks found on different aircraft models. Whether you are on a legacy plane with a round jack or a newer model with a dual-pin connector, this adapter covers the bases. The touch controls and button inputs give you direct access to volume and pairing functions without needing to fumble with a smartphone app. However, this specialization comes with a caveat: it is not a universal receiver. The documentation explicitly states it is not designed for phones without a 3.5mm output, musical instruments, or TVs that lack a headphone jack. It is a dedicated transmitter for analog sources.
This device is also a strong contender for anyone who shares their entertainment experience. Like the LENDAWAY, it allows two headphones to connect simultaneously, but the implementation feels more robust given the brand's history in wireless audio. The connection indicators provide visual feedback on pairing status, which reduces anxiety about whether the second device has successfully connected. If you are a frequent flyer who brings your own noise-canceling headphones and wants to ensure they perform at their absolute best, the R1-25Hr is the logical choice. The metal body also helps dissipate heat better than plastic during extended use, though with such efficient power management, overheating is rarely an issue. It is a heavier, more substantial piece of gear, but that heft corresponds directly to the features and longevity it delivers.
• Best for battery life → Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr: With 25 hours of continuous playback versus the LENDAWAY's standard runtime, this is the clear winner for long hauls and all-day events.
• Best for portability → LENDAWAY 5.4: Weighing significantly less and having a compact profile, it fits effortlessly into small pockets or tight spaces where bulk is a concern.
• Best for audio quality → Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr: The Qualcomm chip and aptX Adaptive support provide superior clarity and lower latency compared to the standard Bluetooth 5.4 implementation of the LENDAWAY.
• Best for gym sharing → LENDAWAY 5.4: Its lightweight nature and simple dual-link setup make it easier to carry to the gym and share quickly with a workout buddy without carrying extra cables.
• Best for aviation travel → Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr: The specialized airline adapters and pass-through charging are tailored specifically for the rigors of air travel, ensuring uninterrupted entertainment.
• Best value for casual users → LENDAWAY 5.4: If you just need basic functionality to connect your headphones to a car stereo or old TV, the simpler specs offer excellent utility without the premium price tag of advanced codecs.
• Best for durability → Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr: The metal enclosure offers better protection against drops and daily wear compared to the glossy plastic finish of the LENDAWAY.
• Best for hands-free calling → LENDAWAY 5.4: Both handle calls, but the LENDAWAY's broader compatibility with various devices makes it a more versatile companion for mixed-use scenarios outside of strict aviation contexts.
After weighing the specifications and understanding the distinct use cases, I would personally buy the Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr if my primary goal is exercise and travel combined with high-quality audio. While the LENDAWAY 5.4 is a fantastic, lightweight tool for quick connections, the Avantree's 25-hour battery life and aptX Adaptive support provide a level of reliability and sound fidelity that matters immensely when you are trying to stay motivated during a long run or watching a movie on a red-eye flight. The metal build also suggests it will survive being tossed around in a gym bag or suitcase far better than the lighter alternative. That said, if you are on a tighter budget or primarily need a tiny dongle for occasional car use, the LENDAWAY remains a worthy competitor. Ultimately, for those seeking the best memory foam ear cushions kids headset for exercise scenario where comfort and battery last through the entire session, the Avantree's endurance wins. I recommend the Avantree for the serious user who treats their audio gear as an investment, whereas the LENDAWAY is perfect for the casual user who just wants things to work immediately.
No, the LENDAWAY 5.4 operates on standard Bluetooth 5.4 protocols and does not list support for aptX, aptX HD, or LDAC. It transmits standard stereo audio suitable for general listening but lacks the high-bitrate capabilities of the Avantree model.
Yes, the Avantree SoundJet R1-25Hr features USB-C pass-through charging. This allows you to connect it to a power source and continue listening for the full duration of your battery life without interruption, a crucial feature for long flights.
At only 0.07 kg (70 grams) including the casing, it is extremely light. It is designed to be nearly weightless in your pocket or bag, making it one of the most portable options available for travelers who want to minimize carry weight.
Both devices are designed to pair with Bluetooth headphones and earbuds, including popular noise-canceling models like AirPods and Bose. The Avantree model includes specific airline adapters to ensure physical compatibility with seat jacks, while the LENDAWAY requires a standard 3.5mm plug.
