This workshop day offers postgraduate students and academic researchers practical, scholar-focused training in methods for language environment analysis and speech classification. The morning session introduces the LENA system through Jongmin Jung’s detailed overview of long-form audio recording and its research applications, followed by Jun Ho Chai’s step-by-step demonstration of data analysis using LENA-generated files. In the afternoon, Suk Hwan Jeong presents advanced, AI-assisted tools for annotating and validating speech with focus on the task of ADS vs. CDS classification. Ioana Buhnila will introduce tools “Beyond LENA,” which will equip researchers to process long-forms speech data without LENA device or algorithms. Participants will engage in theme-based small group discussions to exchange expertise, tackle methodological challenges, and build scholarly collaborations across disciplines. This session is ideal for those eager to acquire actionable skills and join a vibrant, international research community dedicated to innovative practices in language and speech analysis.
