Political Wins as a SRHR Policy Analyst & Consultant
Political Wins as a SRHR Policy Analyst & Consultant
For the past three years, I’ve dedicated my work to policy analysis, advocacy, and implementation in SRHR, and I’m proud to see the tangible impact of these efforts across municipal and provincial levels. Through my recommendations, lobbying, and direct advocacy, we’ve achieved significant policy wins that are transforming menstrual equity in Newfoundland and Labrador.
2025: A Major Win for Menstrual Equity
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s partnership with Shoppers Drug Mart to provide free period products is a direct result of the advocacy and recommendations I have been pushing for the past two years. As the founder of the Period Priority Project, I actively lobbied for this very initiative, working to ensure policy solutions that prioritize accessibility and dignity. Seeing this vision come to life proves that persistence and evidence-based advocacy can drive systemic change.
2024: From Grassroots Action to Institutional Change
What started in 2022 as a student-led initiative—placing baskets of period products in gender-inclusive washrooms at Memorial University—grew into a formal policy recommendation I championed. Today, that effort has evolved into a province-wide pilot project, ensuring free menstrual products across all MUN campuses. This milestone underscores how community-driven advocacy can influence institutional policies.
2023: Free Period Products at All St. John’s City Facilities
Through my policy recommendations and advocacy, the City of St. John’s committed to providing free menstrual products in all public facilities. This victory not only improves accessibility but also cements menstrual equity as a municipal policy priority—a shift that I am proud to have played a role in driving forward.
Why This Matters
These wins are not just policies—they are systemic changes that dismantle barriers, promote inclusivity, and ensure menstrual equity is recognized as a fundamental right. As an SRHR Policy Analyst & Consultant, I remain committed to shaping bold, evidence-based policies that drive lasting change.
