LSAMP Project

Over the course of the summer, I was given a project with minimal direction from my mentor, Jon Seal. I was to perform a PCR analysis on several different ant colonies from the Trachymyrmex species found along the southeastern coastal plains of Northern America. I collected ants from various colonies, ran a DNA analysis and created a phylogenetic tree to show bottle necking in the species across different geographical locations. This data was presented at a conference in El Paso with other peers from the LSAMP program.
