Petition #1 Leicestershire's District and Borough Councils should not be closed down. The government has not properly presented and justified its intentions.
Petition #2 The City Council's Unitary area should not be increased and perhaps, for the improved wellbeing of people in the county, that area should be decreased.
Petition #3 We support both the devolution related petitions, #1 and #2.
On 16th July, after these three petitions had been published on Leicester Life on 6th July, the government in London announced its decision to close down Leicestershire's seven district and borough councils and gave some details of an expansion of the city council area. These seven councils had, for decades, looked after many interests of roughly 800,000 people.
So no longer seeking individual supporters of petitions #1 and #2 here. Obtaining support for the combination as petition #3 is the key current activity. And there are four variants of #3 which declare support for that, plus additionally urging the individual closed-down districts and boroughs in the south of Leicestershire to support petition #3. There is a Hinckley #1, a Blaby #1, a Harborough #1 and an Oadby #1 petition.
Only one of these four south-targeted petitions can be supported by one person. However, supporters need not be resident in those chosen areas, they simply need to wish at least one of the councils to try and remain open. If you feel like supporting the future of councils but have no particular preference, please support Hinckley #1.
Petition Hinckley #2 We request that Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council start up the Leicester Life website's five year international and multi-lingual Art Project, as part of their cultural programme.
Not part of the petition text: The Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council had asked for participation in the government's competition to find a Town of Culture. But their entry, requesting Hinckley to join the Town of Culture competition was rejected.
Lincolnshire had seven districts and boroughs being closed down, alongside an expansion of Lincoln City's area. I created a Petition #3 for Lincolnshire, that its District and Borough Councils should not be closed down and the city's area should not be enlarged.
Warwickshire is also having several districts and boroughs closed down. I created a Petition #1 for Warwickshire, that its District and Borough Councils should not be closed down and the government has not properly presented and justified its intentions.
Petition #4 Tables and chairs should be considered approved structures under the city's PSPO.
Not part of the petition's text: Related to the April 2025 Public Space Protection Order, for parts of Leicester City. I declare that it contained significant unnecessary, arguably disproportionate text, and also ambiguous and de facto unlawful text and it has led to extensive abuses of local human rights, including my own. A second PSPO petition seems appropriate or simply an upgraded one.
Petition #7 English counties need non-statutory, open and communicative Junior Parliaments and Senior Parliaments.
Petition #8 England needs a de facto coalition government very soon.
Not a part of the petition text: It seems not to be necessary to hold a UK General Election first. I target this Petition #8 towards our Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Andy Burnham and our previous Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer.
Leicestershire Petition #16 We urge the executive Mayor of Leicester City, Sir Peter Soulsby, to resign and the same also the 10 members of parliament within the county of Leicestershire.
Not part of any petition text: Support is currently requested for twelve petitions, as indicated above, and a supporter may choose up to nine of them.
I have very many petition-booklet support references. Presented in my presence, for example on a public area table in Hinckley and in Blaby.
Emails may be used and are also highly encouraged to submit petition support. The names of supporters who ask to be in an Email message are the key issues and I do not need their individual contact details.
