"Councillors vote for more powers at town hall... Liberal Democrat group leader Oliver Holmes said a greater Ipswich authority would serve people best and the town sometimes felt like the County Council's wedding guest it doesn't want to invite... Suffolk County Councillors, on the other hand, have already discussed the idea of there being only two local authorities - a setup which would not include a greater Ipswich council." "Political leaders in East Suffolk are ruling out suggestions of a single unitary authority for Suffolk... East Suffolk Council Leader Caroline Topping said I am certainly not looking for a single unitary for Suffolk, two or three unitaries please, is what we are looking for... All the options are still on the table. The county council, the districts and borough have engaged a consult to run the numbers. We need to make sure when we go to the government that we have a credible plan." External link from the BBC #2 . Some Suffolk history from another link: BBC #3 .
