LEGO
Originating from the Danish words "leg godt", which means "play well", was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen because of the toll the Great Depression took on kids and families. Starting in his toy store in Billund, Denmark, Ole Kirk got building block idea when his son and other kids were looking for new toys to busy them during this dark time. Since then, the company has been passed down from father to son and is currently owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen.
