“Have you no faith? Can’t you see? If we get this right, we can sell these bricks all over the world!”
~ Ole Kirk Kristiansen
Today, LEGO is one of the leading toy brands in the world, and personally, one of my favorite brands, that creates products that inspire creativity, innovation, and learning for everyone. Operating in over 130 countries, LEGO’s little plastic bricks are more than just bricks—they’re tools for creativity, education, and connection. The brand’s largest markets include the United States, Germany, and China, reporting a worldwide revenue of an estimated 65.91 Billion Danish kroner for the year 2023, which equals about USD 9.3 Billion.
Beyond toys, LEGO operates within the broader entertainment and education sectors. LEGO Education, the company’s learning-focused arm, equips classrooms worldwide with hands-on tools to teach STEM and problem-solving skills. The LEGO Foundation is another pillar within LEGO that aspires to bring the world of play to children around the globe. It funds early education programs to bring playful learning into classrooms. Both of these initiatives reflect LEGO's mission to bring imagination and creativity to children around the world.
Apart from expanding its product lines and presence in emerging markets, LEGO is making bold moves to address important global issues. LEGO is committed to playing its part in a more sustainable future. LEGO has pledged to use sustainable materials in all its products by 2032, and it is set to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to net zero by 2050. LEGO has already started to introduce plant-based plastic components and recyclable packaging.
An awesome program, that I didn't know of til now, is LEGO Replay. This program encourages people to donate their left-over LEGO bricks to be redistributed to children in need. It partners with a variety of donation networks to ensure that your bricks are given a new life somewhere else. Learn more here if you have LEGO bricks collecting dust.
