My name is Isaiah Greenlee, and I’m a Running Start student at Olympic College, aspiring to graduate with an Associate in Science degree and transfer to a 4-year university to continue my studies. I have been homeschooled my whole life, which has made me a very self-motivated person by necessity. I’ve always loved learning and improving in any way I can, a passion that continues to burn within me to this day.
Although I enjoy most academic subjects, I have always held a particular fondness for mathematics and computer science. Since I first started programming with Scratch 10 years ago, I’ve spent thousands of hours writing code in a variety of different languages and environments. I also have come to appreciate the intrinsic relationship between mathematics and programming, and many, if not all, of my most recent projects were inspired by mathematical relationships and phenomena.
On top of programming, I also spend a lot of my time wrestling with a variety of math and logic problems from books, magazines, and the internet. I’ve found that the skills I developed solving these puzzles have made me a better logical thinker and problem solver, both of which are essential skills for computer programming.
In addition to my more academic hobbies, I play and write piano music, run a D&D group, spend time with my friends, and play board games with my family. I also enjoy catching and befriending spiders, and I will take any opportunity to help people overcome arachnophobia. In whatever free time I have left, I enjoy reading fantasy novels and playing strategy video games.
