Obol Society

This faction is run by Dorian. They seek to defy the Gods every chance they get and insist that mankind should rely on themselves instead of praying for answers. When Prometheus brought fire to man he brought with it the ability to use magic like the Gods. Magic is the ultimate sly against the gods so the more power someone can acquire means a great deal to the group. He believes the ultimate slap in the face to man from the gods is their secret of immortality being kept secret.

They are at constant odds with the Oracles who are their opposites regarding their view on the Gods. Oracles are seen are hypocrites for using the blessings of the gods to help them because it is tapping into the same magic energy. Most people of the Obol don't necessarily care one way or the other about the gods but instead wish to be left alone and have free will from the Oracles or the Order. Many may say they belong with the Obols but don't have the means or vigor to actually act for their cause.

High ranking Obols get along with the Order of the Aegis because they are very corrupt. They know that if they make the right deal, they can get their protection from their enemies. Leveraging this has been crucial to keeping riots from erupting in the streets with the Oracles and their Purges. Low-level Obols aren't a fan of the Order because they don't support the high taxes and believe the Purges won't affect them if they don't draw attention to themselves.

The Bliss are envied by the Obol for their carless freedom to act how they want without persecution. Obol feel they have the obligation to defy the Oracles to keep the people free from being controlled by the gods. Some who are tired of the fighting and politics will retire with the Bliss leaving their previous lives behind.

The Obols love the idea of some one gaining power from something other than the gods. That being said the unknown origins of the Fractured Souls make them fear this power and perhaps there is something more powerful than the gods they should fear as a result. Other Obols see them as brothers to help take out the Oracles because they too believe that acquiring power and knowledge is a good thing regardless of what some consider to be immoral.
